| Solution: Use FireFox Here is the transcript of My support session: Product:Microsoft Money 2006 Small Business Problem:When I run Money and close it, My Passport credentials get wiped from my internet profile causing me to have to log in to my passport account form my my.msn.com homepage {Erica} I am sure that you are anxious to resolve this and I am more than happy to help you with that. For your information some internet browsers may have an impact on our chat responses. If you do not see the responses automatically, we recommend you try using Internet Explorer as your browser during the time you are in the chat forum. {me} I am using ie {Erica} If you are signed into Money with a Passport, then you may not have to sign into other sites that require a Passport sign in. If you are not already signed into a site that requires Passport credentials then you will have to enter them. When you close Money, that means you have signed out of the Passport credentials, therefore you will have to enter them again when you try to access your my.msn.homepage. {me} This did not happen in money 2003. My settings for passport are to remember my email and password. Money 2006 overrides this? {Erica} Do you have that box checked on the sign in page for Money 2006? {me} yes, remember password is checked. the internet profile has the radio button selected for remember both. {me} if I don't use money, the profile is remembered {me} there is the conflict and I need to know if there is a solution for this inconvenience {me} inconvenience {Erica} Are you using the same Passport on Money that you would use to access your homepage? {me} yes {me} the only difference is that last month I used 2003 and now I am using 2006 {Erica} There are differences in the encryptions of the two versions of Money. Unfortunately there is no way to change this. {me} ? I don't understand how encryption applies to default settings. Would you please explain? {Erica} There are major differences in the two versions, our Product Group made changes that they deemed necessary, and unfortunately this seems to be one of those changes. {me} So, even though both preferences say to remember password, Money remembers my settings but wipes out my internet settings? {Erica} Money only detects your settings, Money does not establish or get rid of settings. {me} but that is what seems to be happening in this case. Help me understand. I explained what was happening. I can repeat this consistently, but you are saying Money is not clearing my internet passport settings? {me} Here is the other thing. When I use Firefox. I do not have this problem. It is only My IE settings that are affected. {Erica} Unfortunately Paul, this is a limitation of the software. There is no way to change these settings. {me} Thanks, You might want to report this as a problem if the solution is to use a different browser. Thanks for your time. I hope that this will be looked into. {Erica} I will make notes in your case. Our Product Group review our cases on a regular basis looking for feedback from our customers, however, they are aware of this issue as it was part of the design of the program. Well Paul, it's been my pleasure to assist you on this issue today and I will send you an e-mail summary of our chat session for your records. | I just installed Money 2006 Deluxe and allowed it to upgrade my Money 2004 file. No problems there. However, I have noticed that if I start Money 2006, then open Internet Explorer, I am prompted to sign-in w/ my Passport account in IE. Normally, I have MSN set as my home page and have always selected the option to rememer by email and password. But after installing Money, that seems to get lost every so often. Any thoughts on what's going on and how to fix that very annoying behavior? -- Margo |
