| Yeah, I rely on the forecast cash flow for my checking account. Well, thanks for your thoughts on the subject. Still not sure what to do. I might stick with MS98. My MS2006 was given to me so I'm not out anything. "Dick Watson" wrote: - quote - > It works and doesn't throw as many ads and as much UI confusion my > direction. | It works and doesn't throw as many ads and as much UI confusion my direction. It's surely lots faster than M06, but that's like saying the Rockies are a better baseball team than the Royals. I have a long wish list, however. I have researched, periodically, other choices. I have data in Money going back to March of 1993. Lack of portability for that data is the number 1 impediment to jumping to something else. I'd love nothing better than moving this data more or less seamlessly to a better product. If it weren't Microsoft, it wouldn't hurt my feeling is in the slightest if it worked well and the designer really had a clue or two about personal finance management. (I.e., Microsoftees, didn't commit stupidities like the bit of requiring scheduled future investment purchases to specify the number of shares to be purchased...) Quicken, AceMoney, GnuCash, and MoneyDance all come to mind. My requirements are hard, though. Besides data mobility from Money, I also need classification and robust cash flow projection capability. | M06? I'm not a big M06/5 fan: http://umpmfaq.info/Money2005.htm and http://umpmfaq.info/Money2006.htm. M98 was very buggy. M04 is much slower but generally has marginally better features and more stability. I prefer--on balance and barely--the bill model that was introduced in M02 but made better in M03. | If you don't download transactions and balance your accounts yourself then what features does MS 2006 have over what I've been using, MS 98. I balance my checking and savings in MS98 but was looking to switch to MS 2006. Appreciate your thoughts. Thanks! | Yes. Bear in mind I do NOT download transaction data, in part because I do not accept the notion that the banks records will never be wrong. I'm not everyone, but I typically do. For very low activity accounts, itmight be every few months. I'm aware if they're correct, anyway. For my primary accounts I do it monthly, shortly after the closing date. -- Chris Cowles Gainesville, FL |
