It is text in a semi-documented format. Good luck.

Money Standard perhaps? I can't remember whether this was not in Standard.
It's definitely in M04 Deluxe--I checked.

I didn't realize that the QIF file is just a text file. For all I need, I can
easilly edit it to get across only he information I need and import it to the
same cash account in the "master" database. I think I can even automate some
of that editing as well.

Thanks,
Andre

Thanks Dick.

It looks like I may need an upgrade. Help search on "Access my Money data on
the Web" gives me the following:
"On the Tools menu, click Access My Money Data on the Web. Click Setup."
and my Tools menu contains only:
Find and Replace
Calculator
Internet Updates
Disconnect
Customize Money Advice...
Connection Settings...
Options...

Cannot find "Access my Money data on the Web" either in submenus or any
other menus.

Thanks,
Andre

The second machine just needs a browser. It does not need Money/the real
Money data file. Sync with the web is NOT a way to synchronize two money
files through the web. There is no way to do that.

12.0=M04. It's there. Look almost everywhere, including the Tools menu, for
"Access my Money data on the Web".

It works by copying some subset of your accounts/transactions up to some
Microsoft web server, so it would have visibility to categories you've used
that way. It also requires a Passport. Between copying your data to a MSN
server and requiring Passport, some users find the thought of actually using
it a bit creepy. Supposedly Sync with the web has the same transaction level
functionality as the local application. I can't say exactly how it treats
the customized category list. I've never actually used it. I just stayed at
a Holiday Inn Express last night.

I agree with you, QIF Export/Import is not a good option. I have already
tried it. Web Synch sounds interesting. How would it work between two
dfferent machines - my laptop that I take to work and her desktop at home?
Would her desktop have to access my laptop's database over the LAN at home
when I come back? What version of Money, Web Synch is available on? The Help
on our installations says verion 12.0 and I don't not think that it's
available. Does Web Sync have the same functionality, for instance the
remembered transactions and their assigned categories? If it does, woudn't it
depend on a the local database to get them from?

Thanks,
Andre

There's QIF Export/Import. I think you'll rapidly find that automating it is
more involved than you want. For instance, a QIF Export exports **every**
transaction for an account. Now you need to weed out everything but the new
adds before even pondering Import.

Have you considered Synch With The Web? It's intended for allowing you to
add transactions to the web version of an account and then later synching
these adds/edits back to the local file. That sounds close to your model.
Thus your wife would enter her transactions in your MSN Money page--not a
Money local database--and you could get them later.

Could I still have the ugly workaround? The problem is that I update my
(main) database at work, as it is work related as well, and my wife says that
she can only update hers during the day (the same time) when she has time to
do so. So I have no alternatives. If there was just a simple csv
export/import option in Money, it would have solved the problem. But perhaps
even the ugliest workaround I could try to automate?

Thanks,
Andre

The short answer is No. Any longer answer is an ugly workaround.

Default Is there a way to synchronise Money databases?

Is it possible to synchronise (even just one way) Money databases for
specific account(s)? I would like my wife to maintain her cash account in her
version of Money and synchronise it to the main database.

Thanks,
Andre
