You forgot to say SERIOUS pia, but yes, you seem to understand the process. The prevention is to put a stop date in the bill before deleting it. In 06, when you put in a stop date, it must have at least one remaining event. The workaround is, before putting in the stop date, tell money you want to edit an individual bill date. Edit the extra date (the one remaining when you put in a stop date) to $0. Then, after editing and saving, put in the stop date and process the remaining $0 bill. It may not be possible to put in a stop date after editing an individual date. It may not be possible to edit an individual date if there is only one remaining. You may have to put in a stop date for TWO remaining events, then edit both to $0. Don't edit the entire bill to $0, because it will have a retroactive effect on your budget. Edit only individual dates. Play with this a little and report your experience. If the future amounts of a scheduled bill change, for example, your cable TV rates go up, don't edit the bill because of the same problem. Put in a stop date and create a new one for the new amount, starting with the first payment date after the previous bill expires.. Heed the warnings above. | OK I think I see the answer on the work around. Correct me if I'm wrong but it looks like I need to go into categories view. For each of the categories on my paycheck (fica, ss, medicare, med insurance, dental, fSA, 401k, etc. what a pain in a**) create a new category (i.e. "fica (2)", "ss (2)", and so on) move all transactions out of those accounts into the new category then delete the old category. Then somehow that breaks the links in my budget and I can go back and view the budget and it should be fixed. | How do I do that resolution when I've already deleted the deposit from the bills and deposit list? Now that I think about it that may be the problem. I imported from my original categorized paycheck from quicken and then set up a new one using Money's wizard. Then I deleted all the transactions from my check register with the quicken categorized deposit as well as deleted the actual recurring deposit under bills and deposits. Then I replaced all of them with the new categorized paycheck I set up with MS money. | Did you NEVER delete an instance of your paycheck from the bill summary? I've not heard of the budget except in that case, or if it's set up incorrectly. That doesn't mean there could never be corruption. | Will that fix solve my problem even thought it isn't with a deleted recurring bill or deposit. My problem is that after I set up my recurring paycheck whenever I look at my current month budget my income is doubled? Every other view seems to be correct (i.e. when I drill down to the detial income matches my monthly paycheck, or when I look at yearly budget income matches my yearly salary), it's just the current month budget view so I can't get a realistic picture of how my financial situation is for the month. | The problem is not yet fixed in 2006. | Did you find an answer? I have a similar problem with Money 2004. I set up my paycheck with the paycheck wizard. Now when I view my current month budget my income is doubled. Yet when I drill down to income detail it is correct or when I view yearly budget my salary matches my yearly salary. You mentioned later versions of money. Has someone told you this problem is corrected in later versions. I might just upgrade because I like everything else about money. | I've run into a nasty little bug in Money 2004 which I understand is common to several versions: amounts for budget categories doubled. I understand this has something to do with deleted transactions still being tracked. For software claimed to be "robust," that doesn't seem all that trustworthy. Is there a fix for this aside from deleting all of my financial records and re-entering them? (I have no plans to upgrade to a newer version of Money) Thanks, CJ |
