| Maybe I should look into that sometime and see how it works for me. I was going to try and access my daughter's account through the connection wizard, but all I got was "We're sorry, but we cannot locate the page you requested." message. I'll call the bank and see what they have to say about it. | I don't bother balancing anything. When Mny connects to an institution it gets all the pending transactions and posts them to the account ( or performs whatever the institution coded to be done ). I see 2 amounts: 1. Mny total, and 2. Institution total. Both must be equal. Only exception is the exact investment value of an investment account ... but the cash position must be equal. For a checking account I could verify that the bank debited the amount that I wrote in my check register. For a credit card we usually see the transaction in a day or two. Same with brokerage. So, what I see every day is within a day or 2 of the actual transaction. arthur == On Mon, 3 Apr 2006 21:02:22 -0400, "rustyfender04" <rustyfender04[at]hotmail.com> wrote: - quote - > Ok, I remember some of it now. | Ok, I remember some of it now. My bank is not listed on Money's web site, but my daughter's is. I rarely download e-statements myself.......I always balance with a paper statement instead. | No, it requires your financial institution to logically connect to your local Mny program when you click the Update thing. In Mny 06 it is a -> <- in the upper right hand area near the Help. You set up your account with a password and login id as if you were to log into the institution's site. In Mny03 it was an Update on the bottom area of the window. The other method is to log into your financial institution and manually cause tranactions to be downloaded to Mny. So it depends on your financial institution. Mny has lists showing capability of institutions. arthur == On Mon, 3 Apr 2006 19:12:57 -0400, "rustyfender04" <rustyfender04[at]hotmail.com> wrote: - quote - > That is a good price for Premium.......I've only used the standard version > myself. > Pardon my ignorance, but I have never used the auto update > feature.......Does that require a 24/7 connection? > Regards |

| I paid $20 net for Mny06 Premium at Costco this year. $40 Costco rebate. I had the 03 Deluxe which is supposed to cease auto updating accounts in 3yrs from fiirst use ... I still had time on it. I was planning on buying an M05 Deluxe via Ebay but that was before I saw the M06 at Costco. M06 dies in 2 yrs. Those bastards. There is nothing new that interests me. | I've never seen Money sell for that price around here, but I have seen it coupled with tax software at no extra charge. I noticed that Mny 03 expired at the end of last year, but for some reason I've been able to get live online help with it this year. Thanks for your comments. | The auto account update in the Deluxe expires after 3 yrs with the 03 version so if you use auto update then the 04 should extend that for another 12 months ,,,, I assume. Keep your 03 files as renamed copies somewhere so you can revert if it doesn't work out for you. I would especially add another suffix eg. mymoney.mny.2003 to keep it safe. arthur == On Sun, 2 Apr 2006 09:42:41 -0400, "rustyfender04" <rustyfender04[at]hotmail.com> wrote: - quote - > Which is the better version? > Are there much differences between the two? > Regards, > rf04 |

| I guess I meant to say resold. I didn't take into account the market in unsold dusty old boxes. Brand new ones go for $20 or less. (M06 Deluxe was less than $19 at Sam's while they had it.) If the $15 is that important, then go for it. I'm not arguing that the $15 is irrelevant, but it doesn't seem worth rooting about looking for obsolete software unless you really don't want to use the newer versions. (In the case of M05 and 6 I can understand looking for M04.) Note that newer versions have explicit end-of-life dates stated as x months after first installation or date certain, whichever comes first. The difference between M04 and M03 was almost nothing but I preferred and still use M04. But files are still not backward compatible. Prepare for this before upgrading in any case. | The first time I was introduced to Mny was when I found it at Big Lots for $10.00 ('01 version)......Later on I found Mny 03 at Rose's for $5.00, so I gave it a try and liked it. The older versions worked just fine for me, so saw no reason to pay full price for the newer stuff. If these versions I have are being sold illegally then I wonder why MS honors my registration and gives me free online & free phone support? | No. Not M06 to M05. Not Mv2 to Mv1. Not M02 to M01. Not even M05+updates to M05. Money files have never been backward compatible to prior versions. But I'm at a loss to understand what "not paying full price" has to do with running obsolete versions. They all but give away the current versions and the old ones aren't sold legally. | Personally, I've never paid full price for Mny products, so I guess that's why I'm always a few years behind. If I switch/import Mny 03 files over to Mny 04, will I be able import these files back to 03 if I don't like Mny 04?
