| A .dll is an executable program (aka a module) called by other programs. You can Right Click > Properties to see information such as module version and name. A Money update data file will be named with an .ofx suffix. arthur == On Mon, 10 Apr 2006 05:27:01 -0700, Boblink <Boblink[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote: - quote - > Hi Michael, thank you for your help and sorry for the delay, I was away and > didn't get to read your reply until this morning. | The way to save the ofx files is to open a folder in Explorer, go to Tools - Folder Options, File Types -- scroll down to the OFX file, click on advanced, and then click on "confirm open after download". This will give you the choice of opening or saving the file. If you want to view it, opt to save it. To send it to Notepad, open the "sendto" folder (Start - Run - Sendto will do that), right click in the folder, select new - then shortcut - then enter "notepad.exe". Go back to the folder where the ofx file is located, right-click, send to, select notepad. -- Michael Gordon MVP "Chris Cowles" <spam_magnet[at]remove-me-bellsouth.net> wrote in message news:eM42jwSUGHA.2156[at]tk2msftngp13.phx.gbl... - quote - > "Boblink" <Boblink[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > news:2F2C9A22-7260-4E38-BC11-F505816C0B5F[at]microsoft.com... > > Thanks guys, "If click your mouse once on the transaction before > > accepting, > > it should show a little box with 'downloaded as:' or something like that. > > If > > you can see that, are both yours and your wife's payees identical?". > > > Yes, Money has two options, something like accept this or match your own > > payee and if I look at the list of payees, the one that is the RIGHT > > match is > > greyed out (i.e. not available as a selection) so my only option is to > > accept > > what Money chose for me and then change the payee to the right payee. > Did you hover your mouse over the transaction payee? I'm asking about the pop-up box, without clicking any buttons. Do you get one? I believe there is a way to save the downloaded OFX file to read with Notepad or something like it. Perhaps someone else knows how to do that. I don't but have seen instructions posted here. Doing that may reveal what the bank is sending. If they're only sending the check number, the problem lies with Money; if they're sending additional information, that may confuse the program. |

| Thanks guys, "If click your mouse once on the transaction before accepting, it should show a little box with 'downloaded as:' or something like that. If you can see that, are both yours and your wife's payees identical?". Yes, Money has two options, something like accept this or match your own payee and if I look at the list of payees, the one that is the RIGHT match is greyed out (i.e. not available as a selection) so my only option is to accept what Money chose for me and then change the payee to the right payee. " It may depend how they're identified in the download. If ambiguous, Money may not be able to match them uniquely with the bill recorded in the register. If they have identifiable check numbers, it's irrelevant. It should match on check number regardless of payee description." Ummm, I have NO control over the downloads, they are identified by my bank. The check number always comes through but the name of the payee on the check is the PROBLEM. For example if the check is written by me to Payee #1 who I'll call it Bank of Money, the dowmload will have the right check number but identify the payee as High Gas Company who happens to be Payee #1 on my wife's list of automatic Bill Payment. If I click on "I'll select the Payee" on the drop down menu, Bank of Money is greyed out (not available for selection) so I have to accept High Gas Company and then change the name on the Money 2004 register from High Gas Compnay to Bank of Money. I hope that this is understandable and that some can make sense and help me correct this problem. Thanks, Bob |

| My wife and I use Microsoft Money 2004 to keep track of our finances. We set up separate checking accounts, one checking account for my wife and another checking account for myself. We both use our bank for automatic Bill Payments and have run into a problem when the banks transactions are downloaded to Money 2004. My wife created automatic Bill Payments for companies that she makes reoccurring payments to and I created automatic Bill Payments for companies that I make monthly payments to. The bank assigned numeric numbers (i.e. the first Payee #1, the second Payee #2,…) for each company that my created an automatic Bill Payment for and did the same for each payee that I created automatic Bill Payments for. The problem is that when I download the bank transactions to Microsoft Money 2004, Money does not differentiate my payees from my wife’s payees so when I try and reconcile my account, it includes some of the names of my wife’s payees and when my wife reconciles her account, some of my payees appear in her checking account. I would guess that this is a mapping / algorithm problem and would appreciate help in insuring that my payees are downloaded to my account and my wife’s payees are downloaded into her account. Thanks |
