| For the most part broker software is for customers. OX does have a site tour from their main index page. Others must have some way of showing you their features also. If you intend trading options I would investigate the 3 I mention. Even if you do not trade options you might find one more suited to what you want. Each one is different in some way and you have to try to see which seems best for you. Don't be afread to call their customer service and ask questions. arthur == On Mon, 24 Apr 2006 12:38:01 -0700, Sandac <Sandac[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote: - quote - > Hi Arthur, > Thanks for the information. > With OX, do I have to open account with them ot they PM software available > to anyone? > Thank you. > Sam. |

| How do you define Portfolio Management? IOW what information do you need or want? Would CSV files help? ie DIY spreadsheet OX always shows the underlying asset when displaying option positions in your account positions views. I have not used IB or TOS so can not tell you what software they have. There are also user written tools at IB based on their API (application programming interface) some of which are available to other customers. OX has an API. Don't know about TOS. The optionetics site I mentioned is the place to research what others think of the 3 most popular options friendly online brokers. Don't expect Money to understand options because it won't. If it won't make MS money you will never see it. arthur == On Fri, 21 Apr 2006 09:52:02 -0700, Sandac <Sandac[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote: - quote - > Arthur, > You are saying they have good Prtfolio Management software? > What one do you prefer personaly? > I heard alot about OptionXpress as a trading refference/platform but don't > know about they PM software. > Thank you very much for your help. > Sam. |

| The problem has existed since my first 2003 venture with Mny. Mny is not Options smart but at least knows that such things exist whereas Quicken, last I looked, did not attempt to deal with Options as a separate financial critter. How about Futures? Hey, it's a joke. The only way to intellegently deal with Options is to use an Options smart Broker such as IB, OX, or TOS. Others are unknown to me. Do not hold your breath waiting for a popularist software package to deal with a sophisticated instrument like Options. neguhe == On Mon, 10 Apr 2006 16:50:02 -0700, Sandac <Sandac[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote: - quote - > Hi, > I have exactly the same problem and accordint to MS Tech Support: > "... if we record transactions for Stock Options using the dates later than > the expiration date, the stock options may be invisible in the Portfolio > Manager after they are closed in the Money data file. | Hi, I have exactly the same problem and accordint to MS Tech Support: "... if we record transactions for Stock Options using the dates later than the expiration date, the stock options may be invisible in the Portfolio Manager after they are closed in the Money data file. This is a known issue in Money 2006 program, and our Product Group is working hard on resolving the issue as soon as possible." Try to contact them. | If you purchased Mny only for stock / index options then you made an unfotunate mistake. I am not familar with TOS or IB but OX does an excellent job of tracking your positions at the REAL value ie bid if long and ask if short. It also understands multileg positions. OX also has annual and ytd views of your total gain/loss including dividends and interest. You might consider OpenOffice -- totally free - and create spreadsheets. OX will download CSV files of your activity which can be loaded into a spreadsheet and form the data for other views. arthur == On Sun, 19 Mar 2006 08:01:27 -0800, MumbaiBabu <MumbaiBabu[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote: - quote - > Hello: > Money 2006 Portfolio Manager does not show closed option trades that have > expiry dates in the past, even when the "show closed positions" is checked. > The transactions are still there in the investment accounts, just not visible > in portfolio manager. Not challenging your statement, just trying to understand: can you elaborate> 2006) > useless for option trading investors. on why not having closed positions show up in the portfolio makes it useless for option traders? How does the past affect current investment decisions? I'm guessing you'll have to consider some rather pricey software packages if you need software support for sophisticated option trading. -- Chris Cowles Gainesville, FL |

| MS practice is to almost never ever issue a mid-life patch. | Hello: Money 2006 Portfolio Manager does not show closed option trades that have expiry dates in the past, even when the "show closed positions" is checked. The transactions are still there in the investment accounts, just not visible in portfolio manager. I just called microsoft support and have notified them of the issue and hope that this issue is fixed as an update. If not, it pretty much makes the portfolio manager (and Microsoft Money 2006) useless for option trading investors. |
