| I give up on trying to figure out what I did to make it work the first time. So I will explain the set up I had before, and maybe one of you computer experts can figure it out. Originally I have Money 2004 installed on my desktop. When I downloaded Money for the iPAQ, I got the 2006 version. I do remember it installing without a problem. If I remember correctly it did recognize Money 2004. Once the installation was complete, I tried to sync and I got the "Action Required" message. After reading the manual for pocket pc Money, I realized that I needed Money 2006 installed on my computer. After I read this I downloaded the demo for Money 2006 Deluxe. When I installed it, it converted all the Money 2004 files to the 2006 version. Once I did that, I tried the sync process again and this time it worked. All my accounts that were on my desktop computer were now on the iPAQ. I have been unable to do this again. I even tried to reinstall Money 2004 and then install Money 2006 on the iPAQ, but the pocket pc Money 2006 will not recognize Money 2004. So I am out of ideas on what to do now. I am thinking that maybe there was a file originally loaded on the iPAQ that was deleted when I uninstalled Money from the iPAQ. I have no clue. Hopefully one of you can figure something out here. | I can't help but to agree totally with Big Hammer here. It all comes from the same place so you'd think it would all work. It is a joke that quicken is able to work with WM5 and not Microsoft themselves. If I had known this, I wouldn't have gotten Money 2006. | Thank you for confirming my suspicions. I was, also, not aware that Quicken 2006 works with Windows Mobile V5, so thank you for that information as well. I will purchase it immediately. Now as for Microsoft. This is unacceptable. We are forced to either wait or buy another product that will support their own new mobile operating system. Microsoft needs to be careful here. Apple is coming out with Intel chip set systems and software that they fully support. I have thought about purchasing an Apple system from time to time. I might just fulfill that thought if Microsoft continues to ignore it's customer's needs. | Lemme get this straight: If I purchase Quicken 2006, then I can record my day-to-day transactions on my PPC and then synchronise with Quicken. If, however, I have been foolish enough to: 1. loyally purchase 3 PPCs since 2001 (commencing with the iPAQ 3600) 2. loyally purchase MS Money versions 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2006, and I am presently in the market for a new PPC phone, then I am stuffed. Why? Because no PPC running WM5 will synchronise with Money 2006. Is this correct? What is truly extraordinary about this position is that, if I used Quicken 2006, then I can synchronise with WM5. Isn't that amazing? MS is incentivising me (and all other less loyal MS customers) to go out and purchase Quicken 2006 - the only financial product which will synchronise with day-to-day transactions entered on a PPC. And according to you, Mr Peel, I will have no other option until September when the next version of MS Money is released. I suppose the situation would be less dire were it not for the fact that I have spent 30+ hours already with MS Money support trying to iron out bugs in MS Money 2006. All in all, very disappointing. | No WM 5 is NOT supported. There is most unlikely to be a patch until the next Money version. -- Regards Bob Peel, Microsoft MVP - Money For UK tips & fixes see http://support.microsoft.com/default...d=fh;EN-GB;mny. I do not respond to any emails that I have not specifically asked for. | Does the Money PPC work with Windows Mobile 5? After installing, when I sync, a dialog comes up that says 'Reading device databases' and it never goes away (ie sync never completes). I searched on the Internet, but only found other users with same problem, no solution. |
