| Benoit, You did not tell us the exact details... and it sounds like not your PC / file, so: are you using the same install CD that the OWNER of the file used ? HIS CD ? Is the file password protected ? How big is the file ? Was it OK before restore, or did you do the restore due to a bad disk - maybe data got destroyed ? So - you restored PC, loaded Money , then chose OPEN - file ? Is that when you get the error - when you try - or does it load ok and fail when you enter his password ? How about REPAIR - from the open menu that should be an option too ? Have you tried opening the file on a pc that already has M2001 on it ? If it doesn't load at all, I have an old PC with US Money 2001 deluxe on if it that helps - or maybe personal info ? It's up to you. Tell us exact details. | I don't believe it is possible to find out the locale that a file was created in from the money file details itself, so trial and error may be your best bet here (along with finding out if the regional settings are stored anywhere on disk so you can get them off the other disk). Might also be worth just trying to open the Money file on another machine too. If you're using the French version, you could try to open the file with the French version of 2005. (there's no trial currently available from MS, but it can be found online somewhere i think), as that may allow you to get the data out. Ultrasoft Moneylink may also work to allow you to get the data out also. -- Glyn Simpson, Microsoft MVP - Money http://money.mvps.org/ Check http://money.mvps.org/faq/ for tips and fixes for MS Money. | Regional settings belong to the machine, not the Money file. Your best bet would be to go to Control Panel-> Regional options and try a few combinations. If you have a French version, then try first the default French options. -- Glyn Simpson, Microsoft MVP - Money http://money.mvps.org/ Check http://money.mvps.org/faq/ for tips and fixes for MS Money. | Hello I have a Money 2001 files that I cannot open anymore after reinstalling. The error message is : « your file contains coded informations, it cannot be opened with this version of money » (This a translation from french). I am SURE this file was created with the same version of money that I reinstalled. If I look on the Microsoft website for this error message, the knowledge database says that I have to find the EXACT same regional settings that I had defined when this money file was created.. And I have no way of remembering this - I just know for sure they were tweaked.. I call Msoft a few times now and they say it was possible to find those regional setting in the money file probably, but wouldn't tell me how as my money version is too old (2001) and not supported. They therefore didn't give me the info. Anyone here could tell me how I can find the regional settings within the money file ? Another solution : I actually have a drive image of the previous install. I cannot make it boot - But I still have the window intact. So if anyone knows where in windows are the regional settings stored (a reg file or something), that would be appreciated Thanks in advance for the help! Regards Benoit |
