The only file that really matters is the .mny file. You might want some .mbf
backup files for a nice warm feeling. Use a USB stick to copy across.

All the other files are program related and you will get them when you
reinstall Money.

It depends on what you mean safely.

You can get it accurately by copying to a USB flash drive and
copying it to your My Documents folder. What I would copy is your
latest .mny file and some of your .mbf (backup) files.

Then make backups to USB flash drive periodically, and consider
copying recent a recent backup to a CDR for your safe deposit box
every month or two.

Install Money 2006 onto the laptop, and the files you carry across
are data files.

That does not keep them from being read if your laptop is stolen.
For that you could consider the use of encrypted volumes for the
Money and backup files.

Default Money Premium 2006: Moving my data to my laptop

For reasons too numerous to go into here, I believe it likely that I'm going
to have to move my Microsoft Money 2006 Premium database from my desktop,
where it has been the past 6 years or so, to my laptop. I don't have Money
installed on my laptop, but will have to.

What I want to know is, how do I get all of that data, safely to my laptop?
