What can happen is that you do a Buy of a mutual fund. The cash
account goes negative to supply the funds to buy. If this is what is
happening, you need to somehow add the cash to the cash transactions
to account for the initial balance plus added funds.

Hello, Everytime I try and set up a retirement account with the mutual fund
investments the total of my account is showing as a negative number. I can't
figure out what I am doing wrong. Any help would be appreciated, I have
tried everything.
