| Pmmm, Even though the merge accounts function gives you that nice warning about deleting transactions, I don't think it really does. I have merge about 8 accounts and never had it delete info. You might have so duplicates that you will have to delete. Back up your file and give it a try. sorry I couldn't help with anything else. | Hi. I have had big problems trying to update my Money info onto the website. It really fouled up the money file on my computer. The account balances were all haywire, and I had to go back to my latest backup and re-download from banks where I could and manually re-enter the rest. I'm using Money Home & Business 2006. This was the first time I ever tried to use the online feature. Referring to David's post below, on #4 I also had to "choose" (really no choice) New Account. For #5 transactions were downloaded, but then it asked me if I wanted to merge with existing accounts. However, there was a warning that I would lose all account info that preceded the new download! Huh?! What help is that? I also get the "Updates are temporarily unavailable" often. The ONLY way I could use my original online account update feature after the problems was to use by backup copy that was previous to even trying to use online features. Like David, I could manually download data. Sorry that I don't have any answers and just more questions about these problems. | The standard file repair resulted in a message about "fixed online setup" (something to that effect). This fixed the problem with the MSN Money Syncrhoniation failing all the time as well I had to set up one bank and one credit card up again. Since I had the old accounts still in Money I exported things into .qif files (Merge duplicate accounts was useless here - did not list anything that I could have merged together), and then imported back in. |

| I had to resynch my Money file with what was out on the web (Passport). Since then several banks and credit cards that had online updates are no longer listed as being able to update. Every time I attempt to reset the automated updates the following happens: 1. Sign on info accepted 2. Money finds the account(s) and asks for characterization (checking, savings..) 3. When it asks if the accounts already exist in Money, I respond Yes 4. The next screen should allow me to pick the existing account to use, but for each selection it is greyed out, leaving "New account" as the only option. 5. Money attempts to download transactions, it then comes back and says the updates were complete, but nothing is there, instead, the "New" account is listed and is asking (AGAIN) for online update setup. The call summary messages also state that MSN Money synchronization status as "updates are temporarily unavailable" - this seems to happen with annoying frequency as of late. I can manually download data into the accounts (.qif for one bank, Active Statement for one credit card), but this very annoying when this was all working. I also cannot merge duplicate accounts because the ones I need to merge are not llsted. |
