To Paul: first select Tools> Settings> Online Service Settings> 'Replace
downloaded payee names with user-altered names when available', to see if
that fixes the problem.

Also consider Show standardized payee names... in the same location. The
latter changes downloaded payees having numeric descriptions by removing the
numeric descriptions. The greatest value standardized payee names is for
chain stores, by changing "Publix #435" and "Publix #817" both to "Publix",
for example.

In the case of WAMU putting the check number in the payee field, are they
also including it in the check number field? If not, and standardized payee
names strips out the numbers, you may end up with blank payees and no check
numbers. Not good. In that case, contact WAMU to find out why they're
sending it that way.

Sounds like that plan *ought* to work.

WAMU is apparently entering the check number as payee. I don't think it's an
OverwriteTransactionDate issue. Would standardized payees affect that, along
with excluding 'Check' or whatever?

Default Bank Download Overwriting Payee

I download my bank info and it overwrites the check info I orginally inputed
so the check number appears in the Payee area. Downloads from Washington
Mutual via msn billpay.
