| I use Money 2002 not 2006 so I don't have this issue but I suggest that you always use the advanced version of everything. The term "advanced" means normal. The dumbed down essential versions are worthless. As to your specific question, there is no "category" for transfers from your checking account to your savings account. The transaction should be recorded in Money as a transfer. It cannot have any category because the transaction is neither income nor expense, it is merely moving money from one account to another. By the way, paying a credit card account from your checking account is a transfer. You are simply transfering money from one Money account to another and there cannot be any category assigned since the transfer does not represent income or expense. Each individual credit card transaction is already categorized in the credit card account. If you are using Money's built in categories, I suggest deleting all of them and setting up your own categories which make actual sense instead of the silly, confusing, even idiotic categories Money supplies. When I tried the trial version of 2006, the dumbed down essential register and moronic category lists were among the reasons I deleted that program from my computer and continued to use Money 2002 which works perfectly and it not burdened with excessive advertising and automatic disabling of downloading after 2 years. | You are surely on the right track with your question. Use Advanced Register. Essential Register is for, well, I won't say who it's for. It might upset somebody. Then see http://umpmfaq.info/faqdb.php?q=167. | Hello, I am new to money. RIght now I have a checking account and an ING account. When I transfer money from my checking to ING account, what category in Money 2006 should this be classified under? It doesnt seem right to classify my ING transfers (which are my savings) with credit card payments/transfers. Should it be something else? Thanks for your help.. --Tim |
