What I would have suggested, before doing the Delete is
1. Make sure you blank the symbol.
2. Rename the investment to something you know you will never want
to use, such as zzzz1.

This is just weird - i select the name and then it pretends like it doesn't
know what investement it is....strange

Apparantly I fixed it by choosing the option 'delete investment from all
accounts'. It looks like it got rid of the duplicate.

Will I encounter any future problems because I did this delete?

Locate the details for the investment that you have used in the
past. What is the Investment Type? You can get to the investment
details by right-clicking any of your old transactions for that
investment.

You are right to think there is something amiss here if you show the
same investment under two similar names.

Are you downloading the transactions, or entering them by hand.

That does not go along with the idea that you selected an investment
from the drop-down list as you should. Instead it would suggest that
you might be typing a name, which you should not be doing at this
stage.

Default Inputting a Dividend Reinvestment

Ok I have about 15 years' worth of activity in one of my investment accounts.
Most of it is just reinvestment of dividends. I went to input my dividend
reinvestment from 2/1 and I'm having a problem.

When it gets to the investment name, I pull the box down to my investment
name (which their are two of for some reason) and pick the only investment in
the account. It then asks me what type of investment it is, so I say stock,
then try to input the symbol in the box and I get an error message saying,
"The name or symbol '[stock name]' is already being used for an existing
investment. Please enter a different name."

I tried this for both names in the pulldown list with the name of my stock
and it will not let me enter the investment because of that error.

What do I do?
