Google "best CD rates" and check the sites like Bankrate.com.

Look at several sites since they all miss some good ones. My last CD came
from Mutual Bank in Chicago which was not listed on any of the main CD rate
sites - 5.5% for a 60 mo CD.

CD's are investments and should be carried in investment accounts. Money
handles them quite well.

As to your downloading issue I assume that your CD accounts are at the same
bank as your regular checking account? I never had that situation and don't
know what to say. I always buy CDs from the bank with the highest rates in
the country and that has never been at the same bank as my checking account.

But I have downloaded several accounts from one institution and never had
any problem. Money does give you the change to put the right transactions
into the right account. Maybe you need to check your account setup and make
sure you are downloading the right transactions into the right accounts.

For whatever it is worth I do not download CD transactions (or any other low
transaction volume accounts). Since there is only one interest deposit a
month I simply enter them manually. Sometime downloading is more trouble
than it is worth.

Default CD, investments

I haven't used the investment side of MS Money, mostly because I
haven't been able to afford any investments.

However, I did have a few CD's...and ran them as investments....but had
all kinds of trouble when it came to reporting & budgeting.

A second part of the problem is that my CD accounts downloaded from the
bank...as regular bank account. Money does not allow me to elect not
downloading some of the accounts.

When should investments be used in Money for this situation?
