| That is what I can't figure out. If it is a registry issue, it must've store somewhere in the registry I can't find. I did a full search of the registry for the word "Money, MNY, and SURFPLACE" and delete all of those without any success. | You can't create a local user? (I.e., mymachine\myuser not thebigdomaininthesky\theiruser. There may be a GPO that can preclude this. Can't say. Such a policy is not enforced in our environment.) Of course, corporate machines tend to have all kinds of goofy things installed and setup on them. Ours do, anyway. I'd bet you'd have zero problems on an XP Gold+SP2 machine. | Yup...I did contact their support. They suggest I remove zone alarm or create a new XP user profile. It is not zone alarm i could confirm that, I've tried to remove it. I have administrative access to this laptop, so security isn't a problem. I've been working on this laptop with it fine for the past year. The problem just recently came up in the past couple of weeks. I am able to uninstall, reinstall, mess with registry, and whatever thing on this laptop w/o anyproblem. Just I can't create a new user as it needs to authenicate against the corporate domain and LDAP. Their support also suggested i've tried this method. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/895866/en-us Which didn't work as well. I've tried clean boot, same problem. They suggest i do a safeboot w/networking, same problem. "KNGUYENTU" wrote: - quote - > I've been using money for the past 4 years and have no problem with it. | Bummer..... What I can't figured if it was a recently security patch released by MS or what. I've found a corrupt reg key, deleted that but it didn't solve the problem. In registry, did all search on Surfboard, Surfplace, Money, MNY...deleted them all manually. That didn't solve the problem. http://www.pftalk.com/ftopic17829.html Someone post they contact MS Support and the suggestion was 1) Do a clean boot install of XP - They are CRAZY to even suggest that. Do a clean boot install of XP just to fix a MS Money issue?! 2) Create a new XP user profile - A really difficult thing to do when you have no control on user profile since the laptop belong to a corporate domain. There got to be a solution to this......I can't believe MS Support people themselves hasn't escalate this up. | No application doing pop-up. Just MS Money has that box asking to open or save. Yes, I've tried the internet option > local setting as well. I've tried all suggested in these threads. http://money.mvps.org/faq/article/78.aspx http://www.pftalk.com/ftopic17829.html I've even tried to uninstall MS Money 2005, remove the hidden directory of MNYCoreFiles, remove all registry entry of MNY. No luck. I've tried to set all of the security setting to lowest possible, no luck. I've tried adding MONEY://[at]sur.mar[at]/ to the setting, same issue. I don't want to go the route of creating a new WindowsXP profile, as I've seen it resolve the problem for some people in these threads. | I've been using money for the past 4 years and have no problem with it. For some crazy reason, in the past week my MS Money 2005 start having all of these popup asking me to open or save on any link I've clicked on. Name: MNYxx.surfplace Type: Surfboard Shim Doc Object From: surf.mar[at] I've searched all of googles and googles newsgroup for info on it. Tried whatever I've came across w/o success. So I thought it was a MS Money 2005 version problem. Went out to buy MS Money 2006. SAME PROBLEM! Anyone has a solution to this, other than creating a new UID/Profile in WinXP? This laptop is on a network domain and I dont have control over creating new UID/Profile in WinXP Pro. |
