This is a bug. It has been around for a couple of versions, now (since Money
2004?) and I reported it to MS back in October, 2005 (to no avail, of course).

The problem was created when you had the report on the screen, then (1)
clicked on one of the column headers, say the payee, to sort within category
by payee, then (2) did more customization. (3) When you come back to the
report, the CATEGORIES are in reverse order.

To get things back to normal, click again on that column header (payee in this
example) so the data is sorted in reverse order. Then go back to Customize,
make a change and immediately reverse it (or just click the date drop-down at
the bottom of the screen and select the same date range again). Now when you
come back to the report, the CATEGORIES will be in the correct order, but the
payees will be reversed. Click again on the payee header to fix the latter.
BTW, the arrows at the top of the payee column that display the sort order,
are backwards at this point.

To prevent the problem if you need to customize the report again, just click a
column header to sort in reverse order BEFORE you customize, then click the
column header to sort again after customizing.

I tried that and the dates of each category will change. However, they still
remain in reverse alphabetical order. Can you think of anything else?
Thanks.

Default Tax-related reports

How do I change the order of the categories in the Tax-Related Transaction
report? Somehow, I reversed the order. How do I change it back to
alphabetical order?
