I found something on technet that described running secedit with a long string of parameters. Basically, it reset some reg key permissions back to default. The person recommending it included parameters that narrowed the focus to certain branches. That fixed that problem, and I suspect it cleaned up some stuff. If interested I can find the reference and provide a link here. It does seem applicable. -- Chris Cowles Gainesville, FL |

| I have similar setup. After several days of trial-and-error I fixed the problem and as a byproduct went through the crash course on windows registry. I uninstalled MNY 2006 and re-installed 2003. I discovered similar problem although it used to work fine. Then I tried installing other programs and found they all experience same issue in the non-installer profiles. I finally went through the Windows registry and figured out that permissions on keys under HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT are being set to be applicable only to installer and are not being inherited from parent object. I looked at the keys for older programs under HKCR and they had proper permissions(read access to Users) inherited from Parent Object. I've spent several hours researching this on Internet. I finally got a hold of another XP machine and compared my HKCR permission to this machine. I found that somehow permissions at the top level(HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT) got changed (not sure when it happened and how). I changed them to match and everything is working fine. Thanks. | Unbelievable. To make a long story short, the answer from MS support is that Money 2006 is not supported in multiple XP profiles. In addition, it can only be installed using account with administrator privileges. It didn't matter to them that I can still invoke Money in secondary profiles(including limited user profile) and it just MNY/OFX files are not being properly associated. I guess I will have to live with saving OFX files to disk and then importing them manually. | That's correct. I also found that OFX association is missing. I'm going to try your suggestion. | I am assuming that you can open the file and the Money file icon (association) is missing. If so, I had the same problem. My other users were Administrators. Install TweakUI for XP, http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/d...powertoys.mspx then locate Repair, Then rebuild Icons. | The other account is limited user(I always run everything from this account). I tried reinstalling again and it does not fix the problem. The registry entry for MNY is missing. I'm considering copying the registry key and values from administrator to limited user. I also talked to Microsoft last night and they will contact me next week to look at this problem. If the other XP account is an administrator account, you can> When I login using another XP account, the file type association with Money > 2006 program is not there. reinstall from there. If not, I am thinking that reinstalling from that built-in "administrator" account should work also. Watch for any selection as to whether you want it to work from all accounts, or just the one. I am not sure there is such a thing. But in any case, I expect reinstalling from either account should fix it. |

| I installed Money 2006 from built-in "administrator" account on Windows XP. When I login using another XP account, the file type association with Money 2006 program is not there. Thanks |
