I've never really used Quicken so can't compare. It would be subjective,
anyway. Unless there are specific functions that one does objectively better
than the other, that a particular user needs, I think the difference is
basically look and feel. For example, Quicken supports Employee Stock
Purchase Programs, where Money does not. I would appreciate having that, but
won't switch to get it.

Maybe one has a particular bug that drives you so crazy you can't use it
without having a stroke. The other probably has a bug that's just as bad,
but on a function that you don't use. Your perception, therefore will be
that the one with the bug you saw is worse than the one with the bug you
didn't see.

Choose the one that feels good to you. After you've used one for awhile,
your investment in data entry and time spent learning will make switching a
hard choice.

So far, I dont see any glaring differences between the two. Any thoughts or
dislikes on either assuming you have used Quicken? I am only using them for
basic banking, paying bills through them online etc...nothing fancy.

In your evaluation, compare the cost of technical support for Quicken, vs
Money.

Also, the cost of purchasing next year's product, should you choose to.
Money doesn't have an upgrade discount, but it's cheap to everybody at
Sam's. Quicken is more expensive but there is an upgrade discount. I don't
know which works out cheaper.

Thanks Chris, I actually opened an account with Wachovia this morning. I am
still using the trial version of Money, and comparing it to Quicken 2006.
They seem similar at this point, so I will put them to the test when I am
able to set up Online Bill Pay with Wachovia. I am looking forward to the
challenge, Wachovia has a nice website and they seem to have a leg up on
others as far as Money/Quicken acceptance goes...

Many do. I've been happy using Wachovia for years. Other respondents have
cited success with other banks.

Depends on the bank. You can usually get it for free, for reasonable minimum
balances. If not, then it's inexpensive considering only the postage saved,
not even counting your time or paying for checks.

I will call them today about finding out if I can schedule payments through
money. The bank is Webster Bank here in CT, and I looked at the online
participating banks. They are on there, but under the subcategory of online
bill pay, they arent listed. Actually, not many banks are on that
list.....what bigger banks handle online bill pay through Money well? Is that
option free through Money?

Your descriptions imply, and Dick's answer assume, that your bank does not
offer online bill pay through Money. Is that the case? Can you schedule
payments only through their web site? Or is it possible to initiate an
online payment from within Money? If you don't know the answer, call the
bank to find out. Then post back here.

The fact that you've setup an epayment at the bank won't download. The fact
that one of the payments has cleared will download as a transaction. Because
of this, if you want them to show up on the Bill Calendar, you have to tell
Money about them as scheduled items.

Do I have to actually set each bill up in Money or will the info just
download from my banking online payment account?

Go to Bills & Deposits. Click on New. Select Bill. Schedule it to match.
Assuming you download transactions (everybody but me and Steve Cohen does),
when the transaction DLs, Money should match it up.
