Correct, unless you initiate the payment within Money. If so, the incoming> America sets the payee name - in this case DIRECTV (1) - and because I > am receiving e-bills from that payee, I am stuck with whatever name B > of A chooses to use? bill payment matches the description you created. Otherwise, you have no control. If you initiate the payment on BofA's web site, that is the case. That may apply if your link to BofA is through Yodlee. I don't know if you even can initiate a bill payment through Yodlee. I have no experience with it. -- Chris Cowles Gainesville, FL |

| Chris - I think I understand. The issue is, perhaps, that Bank of America sets the payee name - in this case DIRECTV (1) - and because I am receiving e-bills from that payee, I am stuck with whatever name B of A chooses to use? It was a downloaded online payee, correct? They cannot be edited. If you> out" and cannot be edited - DIRECTV (1) for example. initiated the payment in Money, or matched it on download to an existing transaction, it would remember that in the future. You still could not edit or merge it, but it should already reflect the desciption you wanted. If this is the only instance of that payee, consider deleting it, then recreating the payment register entry? Do a backup first. Then be sure you match subsequent downloaded transactions to the payee you created. If you have an outstanding APay, do not delete the payee without first cancelling the scheduled payments. -- Chris Cowles Gainesville, FL |

| In Money 2006 the payee field of a downloaded transaction is "grayed out" and cannot be edited - DIRECTV (1) for example. When I try to use the Payee Rules Manager to change the name to Direct TV, I receive an error stating that "DIRECV (1) is already being used as a payee or payee name variation. Please enter a different name." This seems counter-intuitive to me. Surely, I should be able to enter the preferred name and then list the unwanted variants I wish to have replaced with the preferred name. |
