He can Move a category later so that all occurrences of that category change to a different category. So if his purposes or preferences change, then he can modify the existing transactions too. |

| How you categorize certain expenses depends mostly on why you want to track them. If you want to quit smoking (good idea), create a top line category for tobacco so it smacks you in the face every time you look at Money. If you want to bury it so it doesn't annoy you or your wife doesn't find out how much you are spending, track tobacco under groceries or a similar broader category. But if you are trying to control your expenses, you better make them highly visible and that means giving them a separate category. In other words when you see how much you are really spending on "small stuff" like coffee and cigarettes, you might stop the trips to Starbucks or whatever ![]() Regards Bill Wood Fountain Hills, AZ "Bernardo" <Bernardo[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:2648E73D-A9BE-4FD8-960B-89E142FA76AB[at]microsoft.com... - quote - > Hey guys this is a bit silly but where would you put the tabaco and cofee > stuff? | Coffee is Groceries. Cigarettes are Miscellaneous. Starbucks is Dining Out. If you buy cigarettes at the grocery store, they are Groceries. If you would prefer to create a Coffee category and a Cigarettes category, you can do that, but it seems a little unnecessary. | I don't know that there is one right answer. Food:Groceries? Food:Bad Habits? Food:Necessary Evils? Evils:Necessary? Leisure:Caffeine and Nicotine?
