You need to know how the cash is treated in this case, and> BAC gave 1:2 shares + some cash. Please advise. http://library.corporate-ir.net/libr...20_FINAL2_.pdf tries to explain it. In my quick attempt to understand it, here is my best guess: 1. do a 1:2 split of BAC. When you do the split, Money will probably ask if you want to maintain the fractional share. Say no, and tell Money that you get 46.62010 per share for the fraction. 2. Rename BAC to MNBA, and change the symbol. Add a comment to the security recording the event. 3. Do a return of capital from MNBA for $134.92-25= $109.92. This will reduce your basis and account for the cash. I am not sure this is the proper interpretation and implementation. |

| I've a merger that the wizard doesn't completely handle. BAC & MBNA merged. BAC gave 1:2 shares + some cash. They paid CASH-LIEU for fractional shares. Thus I have the following activity on my statement which I'm trying to record in Money. Before MBNA - 32.7068 shares Now 1/3/06 BAC SHRS rec'd through merger = 16 1/3/06 MBNA Fee = $25 1/3/06 MBNA Merger = (32.7068) = $134.92 (I think this is the cash part of the merger. 1/9/06 BAC CIL On 0.38284 [at] 46.62010 = $17.85 (I think this is payout of 1/2 the fractional share left after the 1:2 stock swap) I have NO CLUE how to properly record this in Money 06. Please advise. |
