| Thanks again. Tried installing and opening *.mny file in 2004. Didn't work. Going to try a work around since I've spent an eternity putting everything into 2006. I'm still tryin! | Thanks again Cal Learner. I hope the favor is returned someday. The institution is Union Bank of California ("UBOC"). I checked the link you sent and I'm not paying the extra fee to use online banking *through* MS Money, but automatically downloading statements only. Do you think that may be the problem? Re: such a complicated prob. I know, tell me about it. Though I have tried hard to explain it in an uncomplicated way. Forgive for not having more time to write less. First, I have not tried to work thru your complex problem> never fully moved into it cause, for lack of far better reasoning and to be > preventional, I was still in college. completely. I suspect it could involved data via a third party. You have not identified the institution, so I would not know. Money 2004 had a simpler method. With it you set up accounts for online access, but only to those institutions that provided the servers. . Money 2005 and 2006 have a method that can work with more institutions, because it can have a third party get the data from the institution's web site. It can still work with the institutions that provide servers. With that came a difference in access wherein Money gets all of the accounts that you can access from the institution without you specifying which, and the making the separate accounts that you merge. Often that merge works as you would like. But if it does not, I think you would need the Microsoft support people to deal with. - quote - > I downloaded Deluxe 2006 trial so that
Yeah. I noticed that with your posting of the same pair of postings> I may compare it to Quicken to see how I can best manage my finances and > debt. I tried contacting MS support, but they only allow me to post to these > forums via my serial on the trial. > I cannot see how to effectively work around this detrimental problem. I think three times. It seems too complex for me, yet lacking information that I did care to inquire into, to try to get into. If you think that somebody on the group could help, it is possible. But it would probably be from somebody who knows what bank you are talking about. ... or at least what the description of your FI said at http://www.microsoft.com/money/bankonline.aspx . Even then, I don't know how you would troubleshoot that account merging if it did not work. You can buy Money 2006 Deluxe premium at Sams or Costco for about $25. Then you could get the Microsoft email support. If you still have Money 2004 Deluxe, you could try installing that. Both versions can coexist on the same computer. It does each account separately. Then when it is working, you could convert that file to Money 2006. |

| Thank you Cal Learner. I purchased and own Money 2004 (educationally) but never fully moved into it cause, for lack of far better reasoning and to be preventional, I was still in college. I downloaded Deluxe 2006 trial so that I may compare it to Quicken to see how I can best manage my finances and debt. I tried contacting MS support, but they only allow me to post to these forums via my serial on the trial. I cannot see how to effectively work around this detrimental problem. I have to delete the entries and manually adjust the balance on the other 2 accounts every day (every update) and be vigilant about comparing against my online statements. I can essentially only monitor one account at the institution. If anything else comes to mind, or if someone else has a solution, please provide as I'm still going over documents to see if there is a resolve for this. I've already entered so much information and have spent a criminally disturbing amount of time. Thanks. | What I’ve done so far to correct this: [I failed to mention: The accounts appear, with their balances and transaction history’s, correctly on my institution’s web site] I’ve manually voided the 70+ transactions in both Check Acct. B (“B”) and Savings Acct. (“SA”) that were actually the transactions of Check Acct. A (“A”), and then I manually adjusted the balance to $0.00 for the B and SA accounts. However, on future online updates, won’t this again become screwed up as Money on the download duplicates A's transactions and balances into B and SA? Additionally, what about the actual transactions and balances of B and SA? I need to know and keep track of these. Furthermore, Money still counts these duplicate transactions on its report, which, thusly, reports everything everywhere inaccurately. And the amount of time and effort it took to do this was enormous. I tried deleting B and SA from Banking. However, the duplicate and wrong transactions still appear in reports since I cannot actually delete either account – Money tells me if I delete these two, I’d have to delete ALL, including A, so to just *close* the account of B and SA (I assume it does so because its connecting these accounts to each other, since it found them online at my institution from my log in when I set up new account). However, doing so means I cannot keep track of B and SA, which effects everything from my budget and balances to all reporting features and, further, *for some reason* even though the accounts were *closed* in Money, their transactions were still included in the reporting sections. I’ve searched Microsoft support for something on this but couldn’t find anything. The closest I found was about duplicate accounts. But these are not duplicate accounts, they are separate accounts at the same institution. Only, the problem is, two of the three accounts are listing *instead* of their own balances and transactions, the balance and transactions of account A. I thought maybe attempting “Merge duplicate accounts” may help, but Money states on the next screen “You have no accounts to merge.” I have browsed to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/889926/en-us entitled “Duplicate accounts are created after you set up Money 2005 or Money 2006 to download your online information.” However, this suggests that I merge duplicate accounts, and as I’ve written above, this option does not work. And importing the data into the other account would duplicate within the account everything twice, which would make matters infinitely worse. I have tried deleting the transactions one by one in B and SA but what happens on the next update? Also what about updating the transactions that actually have occurred in B and SA? And keeping track of their actual balances and transactions? Much appreciated. | After set up NEW ACCOUNT (Banking), Deluxe 2006 goes online and finds the 3 accounts I have at my institution. On “Confirm Account Type” Money correctly identifies the 3 accounts with their varying balances (only one account has a balance above $0.00, so the other two are blank, so only ‘Check Acct. A’ lists a balance, which is correct) as well as their correct last four digits. On “Are you already keeping track of these accounts in Money” I select No. Money then lists the three accounts on its Home Page, as well as under Banking but now the accounts with no balances have the exact balance of ‘Check Acct. A’ as well as IT'S transaction history, and everything is being tabulated throughout Money completely inaccurately. Hence: Check Acct. A…… correct balance….correct transaction history Check Acct. B…Wrong Balance, actually has that of A’s…Wrong transactions, actually dulplicate of A’s Savings Acct….Wrong Balance, actually has that of A’s…Wrong transactions, actually duplicate of A’s This is what Money has downloaded and accepted for all three accounts. I’d appreciate any ideas to resolve this major bug that has rendered Money effectively useless for me? I will send a response shortly with what I’ve attempted so far to correct it. |
