| Ok, I understand now...it depends on my finanical institution. I'm sorry if I misunderstood and offended anyone, that was certainly not my intent. | slamp, What you do not realize is the decision on how your financial institution (FI) interfaces (or does not interface) with Money is that of the FI, not Money. Some provide the direct interface like Chase/BankOne [note that some FIs charge for this service]; some provide no interface at all; and some provide an interface that is readable by a third party program like Yodlee. The latter requires setting up an MSN Passport account. Note that most of the Passport requiring FIs allow you to manually download the required ofx file from their website, which although not automatic, bypasses the need for a Passport. So for the question of whether you will be able to get in the future automatic direct downloads from your accounts other than BankOne, you will have to direct that question to the holders of your other accounts, not to MSMoney or this forum. -- Peace, BobJ "Cal Learner-- MVP" <via_newsgroup[at]please.tnx> wrote in message news:l8alu1dp458cj16j2dbki1o9so4kfulf90[at]4ax.com... - quote - > In microsoft.public.money, slamp wrote: > > Thank you everyone for all the information, I really appreciate. | Thank you everyone for all the information, I really appreciate. I guess the long and short of it is there is no way to use the online services (other than my Bank One account) without uploading all my information to MSN Money. Do you know if a future version of Money will allow me to use the online downloads from my financial institutes, directly into Money, without forcing me to upload my information to MSN Money? Thanks! | I can confirm that Bank One doesn't require Passport and works as it did in previous versions. However, there will be a migration to the Chase website this Spring. Other than supporting manual downloads, I don't know what will happen then. -- Michael Gordon MVP "Cal Learner-- MVP" <via_newsgroup[at]please.tnx> wrote in message news:rmsiu1d7v9amng22fqdvei81ce6o3k8e5l[at]4ax.com... - quote - > In microsoft.public.money, slamp wrote: > > Thanks for the info Cal. | See http://umpmfaq.info/faqdb.php?q=175 and http://umpmfaq.info/faqdb.php?q=171. In all likelihood, your personal information is already scattered across the web. The only question is how good is the security of the servers that have it. Oh, and how good are your passwords on their sites and your own security practices on your machine(s), and the security practices of your ISP and... | Thanks for the info Cal. What do you mean depends? Does each bank have different settings? In MS Money 2004, I could download items like Bank One directly through MS Money, but I did not have to post my money to MSN Money. I honestly have no desire to do that and would prefer to just keep my info local, while being able to utilize the automatic downloads within Money. Is that possible? Thanks. | I just purchased MS Money 2006 and found that if I want to use the auto download service, I have to have my data uploaded to MSN money. Is there any way I can setup Money 2006 so I can automatically download info from my banks, without having to upload my banking information to the web? I really don't want my personal information scattered across the web. Thanks. |
