| I was having the same problem. I checked this site and tried a lot of the suggested solutions but to no avail. I normally update accounts every other day so I deleted that statement that was giving me problems. I went back to my bank and downloaded transactions day to day. One day did not show the transactions. So I entered them manually and from there on out have not had a problem. Must have been something wrong in that file. Since my bank transactions are on a 30 continuous rotation I make sure I use a start date after that problem date. |

| 1) New Money file, setting unchecked - no items shown 2) New Money file, setting checked - items shown with < & > removed. I tried another import file and saw something different: 1) New money file, setting unchecked - items shown, but credit entries DELETED. I think this is a Money 2004 problem also. I had been missing credit transactions. 2) New money file, setting checked - items shown just fine. I think I will leave the setting checked. cd |

Trying the re-import of the same QIF file after checking> transactions to read) before re-importing that QIF file.. I have not > checked that out at this time. Tools-> Settings-> OnlineServiceSetting-> ShowStandardizedPayeeNamesForWhichANameIsNotFound showed that deleting the existing "transactions to read" statement was optional for my test case. |

What I was trying to say in that section is something like this:> Money 2006. The payee came in as if I had written > and "PCREDIT VOUCHER
WAL-MART" came in as Payee > "CREDIT VOUCHER br WAL-MART". I had tried to duplicate that transactions-to-read problem with a test QIF in Money 2006 that included "PCREDIT VOUCHER
WAL-MART" as one line. The payee came in as if I had written "PCREDIT VOUCHER br WAL-MART". |

The payee came in as if I had written and "PCREDIT VOUCHER
WAL-MART" came in as Payee "CREDIT VOUCHER br WAL-MART". But I did see transactions in the register, and that differed markedly from your experience. So I wondered what might have been different in my test. I think I found the difference, and it could be a useful workaround for you: on Tools-> Settings-> OnlineServiceSetting check ShowStandardizedPayeeNamesForWhichANameIsNotFound. Try clicking MoreDetails to the right of that selection for a description of what it should do. You may want/need to delete the existing statement (right-click on transactions to read) before re-importing that QIF file.. I have not checked that out at this time. Please let us know what you learn, and thanks for identifying this problem and working on a workaround. - quote - > cd wrote: > > I have been reading this newsgroup in the hopes of finding an answer to > > the problem where I import a QIF file and the transactions do not appear > > in the register. | You've hit it right on the head here. Money is probably following the guidelines/standard to the letter on this, and won't import because that sort of text in the tag is invalid. If you encode it the XML ext construct, it might import (not tried) -- Glyn Simpson, Microsoft MVP - Money http://money.mvps.org Check http://money.mvps.org/faq/default.aspx for tips and fixes for MS Money. | I should also add that is a problem in Money 2006 that is not a problem in Money 2004. I have plenty of old QIF files that have
in them that worked just fine in Money 2004. cd wrote: - quote - > After contacting MS Support, it turned out that there were entries in my > QIF file that looked like the following for the Payee field: > PCREDIT VOUCHER
WAL-MART > Since Money uses XML extensively and
is a valid XML-like tag, Money > does not like it in QIF files (no "<" or "> " are allowed). | After contacting MS Support, it turned out that there were entries in my QIF file that looked like the following for the Payee field: PCREDIT VOUCHER
WAL-MART Since Money uses XML extensively and
is a valid XML-like tag, Money does not like it in QIF files (no "<" or "> " are allowed). I changed the entry to PCREDIT VOUCHER -- WAL-MART and all my transactions showed up correctly. cd wrote: - quote - > I have been reading this newsgroup in the hopes of finding an answer to > the problem where I import a QIF file and the transactions do not appear > in the register. | I have been reading this newsgroup in the hopes of finding an answer to the problem where I import a QIF file and the transactions do not appear in the register. I see the "Items to Review (78)" on the side, but the transactions do not show up. Here is what I have done: 1) Everything in KB829143 (Internet options, repairing, reinstalling, etc). No difference. 2) Everything Carl has been recommending (Internet options, "msmoney -s", etc). 3) I even started a new MNY file with only a credit card account, tried to import again, and had the same problem. NOTICE: This is a brand spanking new MNY file with nothing in it except a Credit Card account and an imported QIF file. Is there a fix for this? cd (email address is bogus so don't use it) |
