| Are you using Essential Register? If so, you really sound like a candidate for Advanced Register. With Advanced Register, you'd have a credit card account where your charged the Healthcare:Gym Clothes. Then you'd Transfer money from your checking account to the credit card account to pay the balance. The beauty of Transfer is it's not spending. There'd be no need for the Healthcare:Gym Clothes to get in the checking. Indeed, it wouldn't matter what account it was in because you can look at income and expenses holistically and filter out the information about money flow between accounts that doesn't make you richer (income) or poorer (expense). There's also no need to budget for Credit Card:Capital One--you can use the cash flow planning tools to make sure you have money to send their way when you need to but you can make sure that the balance you run up is within your budget when you run it up, not when you have to pay it back. | The initial expense to the category "Healthcare.Gym clothes" must be entered by you in the Credit Card account as a "charge" so this account will balance out for this purchase (as a result of your payment from the check register).
