| Buy Investment/CD:[name of IRA Investment Account]. I would not use Essential Register. I would use Advanced Register. I would not treat the investment as an expense where the money went off somewhere in a black hole and wasn't also being accounted for in Money as an Investment. | Then for the example I mentioned, how would you input the transaction if you wanted to use the IRA contribution category? | That's like asking if there is a way to Fly and Drive at the same time. Categories apply to Income (you are getting richer) or Expenses (you are getting poorer). The entire reason for Transfer is case where you are doing neither. Transfer is the equivalent of moving money from your left pocket to your right pocket. | I’m using Money 2006. Is there any way to do a Transfer and assign it to a Category in the same transaction? One example would be, Transferring money to an IRA investment account but also having it show up under the IRA Contribution Catrgory. |
