| The real answer is to uninstall the trial version. Then, d/l and install the version from this page: http://www.microsoft.com/money/speci...nkYou2006.mspx Now, when you login in with your original passport you will have the full, activated version. (At least, after hours of trying, that is what worked for me...YMMV.) | I think many of the postings and the UFAQ on the subject suggest opening the Sample file, putting the purchase Passport on it, getting the licensed stuff, then removing the purchase Passport, then opening your data file. I don't think Microsoft's concept fopr Passport assumes one person will find any need to have more than one Passport. | Unfortunately, i did not find these posts too helpful. I've tried different queries, but had little luck. However, thanks to good ole' Google and MS Tech Dbase, i found the solution to my problem. Anyhow, for those that stumble across this posting, here is a recap of the problem and what I did to fix it: Problem: I downloaded the trial version of MS Money 06 Deluxe, and then subsequently purchased it online. Later, I purchased a new computer and re-downloaded MS Money 06 and tried working with my .mny file created on the original computer. Sounds easy enough, right? Wrong. I believe my main problem was not with the Trial version, but rather that I used two different Passport IDs. I had one Passport ID associated with the purchase of Money and another associated with my .mny file. In this situation, the Trial version will not open the .mny file created under a licensed copy of Money. It seems that the Trial version uses the Passport ID associated with the purchase to magically turn the Trial into a licensed version upon the initial login. So... in a nutshell, you will need to create a new .mny file and associate it with the original Passport ID used when you bought the licensed copy. For me, I: 1. Reinstalled the trial version of Money 06 2. Followed MS Suport article # 889930, http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;889930 Basically, this article tells you how to change your Passport ID associated w/ the Money. a. Start Money, and then sign in by using the Passport Network credentials that are assigned to your Money file. b. Click File – Password Manager. c. Click Remove. d. Select I want to remove my Passport Network credentials from my Money file, and then click Next. e. Click Done. 3. Re-login using the passport id used w/ the purchase. Money should then sync w/ the MS Ivory Tower and after a few moments, you will receive a notice to tell you this version of Money is no longer a Trial, but rather the licensed version. At this point, your original .mny file should open w/ no problems. Hope this helps. "Dick Watson" wrote: - quote - > Read more posts for how to reinstall the online-purchased licensed > application. | Read more posts for how to reinstall the online-purchased licensed application. This kind of thing happens all too frequently. Move the .MNY files the same way you move any other data file.
