Premium includes bundling with a Gainskeeper offering. See

Yes. You can export to TaxCut.

Thanks for the replies. I did see the free trial download for Deluxe, but I
thought I would need Premium. The comparison show Schedule D creation only
checked under the premium version. Will Deluxe still import brokerage data
that I can import to taxcut.

Thanks.

Money will not do wash sales as such on its own. There is a service
called Gainskeeper that Money can interface with that can do that
somehow. I have not tried that process.

If you had trader status where wash sales did not matter, then that
would not be a consideration.

Also, there have been some posts that talk of some problem covering
a short on the same day. When I try that by hand in a test file, I
have no problem. A really neat way to find prior postings in this
group is to use the Google Usenet Groups archive.

http://groups.google.com/advanced_group_search enter words that you
think would be in relevant posts into the "all of the words" box.
Enter microsoft.public.money into the newsgroup box. Consider
selecting Sort By Date.

I suggest you try the Deluxe trial. I don't short, and I wait until
31 days to avoid making a wash sale if I took a loss. I don't use
Etrade. But that said, being able to export schedule D to TaxCut or
TurboTax is Money's nicest feature for me. People's favorite use
varies a lot.

I traded stocks/options full time from 1995 to 2001 and used Money to
generate schedule D reports. All versions up to and including Money 2002
handled short sales and buy to covers fine for both stocks and options so I
certainly assume Money 2006 will do so as well. I still use Money 2002
because newer versions are a downgrade in my opinion so I don't know for
sure but you can use the Money 2006 trial for free and find out.

I think I read recently that the IRS now insists that securities trades be
physically typed into schedule D instead of saying, "See attached schedule"
like I used to do. This should not be a problem since programs like TaxCut
or Turbotax will no doubt prepare these schedules for you after you import
your trade data. Note that I never tried importing trade info into Turbotax
which I use because it was easier to attach a Schedule D report produced by
Money to my returns but in theory this should work fine.

I don;t know whether Money will import your trade data directly from ETrade
but I assume that it will. I trade so infrequently now that I simply enter
my trades manually into Money. I tried downloading from my brokers
(Waterhouse) and it doesn't work well because the brokers method of
accounting for cash transactions is too complicated since my sweep account
is a money market account not a checking type bank account and it is easier
to enter the transactions manually. But if I was still trading actively I
am sure I could make the download process work well. You should have no
trouble testing all of this if you download the Money 2006 trial and see
what happens.

Default Does 2006 Premium support "Sell Short" and "Buy to Cover" stock tr

I am an active trader with accounts at Etrade. I have quite a few short
sells and covers that I can not find anything that will generate a schedule D
with my trade export.

Can Money 2006 Premium interface with Etrade and understand my short sells
and covers? Can I then use Taxcut to get this information from Money 2006 to
generate my Schedule D?

I really don't want to match all these trade by hand.

Thanks.
