I subtract previous value and recent deposit from the current value. Whatever's left is what I show as the number of $1 shares purchased with interest reinvestment. Works for me. Others may have alternatives. |

| Well, before I saw your message, I recreated the 401(k) account, and labeled everything as a Mutual Fund. That fixed it. Turns out everything I have are SEP accounts, except for a guaranteed interest account. How do I track that one? I don't have any shares, just a $ amount, and an interest rate on my statement. | It's hard to say from the information provided. Is the investment setup as a bond? Are you trying to enter a Buy Shares transaction or using 401(k) Manager? Why not just enter an Add Shares transaction dates 12/31/2005??? I don't think there have been this many 401k questions in a week in a Long Time. You set up the investment as a bond, when you probably should have> transactions, it doesn't display the original # of shares owned, and > therefore, everything is off. > So I am adding shares, based on the final report for 2005 on my statement as > a starting basis. Bond pricing is a percent of par/face value. ======How to Change Bond to Mutual Fund============ It is not trivial, but not as hard as it first appears. A few minutes should do it. In the details, remove the existing symbol, and rename the existing "bond" to something you will never use. Let's suppose you choose zzzz. Create a new Fund with the correct name and symbol. Go back to investment zzzz and choose View: Investment Details. Enter a fake new Buy dated before all other transactions with quantity more than the total of other "bond" transactions. Change each non-fake transaction to the fund using the drop-down list. Start with the oldest transaction. Keep going until there are no more zzzz transactions remaining except the fake transaction. Delete the fake Buy transaction. At that point you can "delete" zzzz. |

| Same occurs with Buying shares. It seems to be unable to multiply now. Ryan "ryanhull76" wrote: - quote - > I'm adding a 401(k) investment into Money 2006 trial. | I'm adding a 401(k) investment into Money 2006 trial. When I download transactions, it doesn't display the original # of shares owned, and therefore, everything is off. So I am adding shares, based on the final report for 2005 on my statement as a starting basis. (i.e. 1000 shares [at] $1.35 = $1350 total worth, ) Here's what's happening. When I type in the number of shares to add, and then type in the $ of the share, (per share price) Money fails to multiply correctly. Here's a for instance. Quantity: 2.7809 Price*: 737.8251 Total: $20.52 <---- Money Calculated Total And when I try to override the Money Calculated total, it doesn't allow me, and says to allow Money to calculate the total. So I try another way. This time I enter the # of shares, and the total. Same as before, and here's the result. Quantity: 2.7809 Price*: 73,783.3076 <---- Money Calculated Per/share price Total: 2051.84 What's going on here? Ryan Hull |
