Under the Categories tab, click Expense Categories. Un-check
IncludeTransfers. That will make income and transfer items not be
included. You can change the inclusion of categories individually
too.

Sorry, I think I was too overhasty. It works if I select "All Types" in
"Details" and uncheck all income categories in "Category"! Pretty tricky

Then my income and expenses are shown in one pie. I want the report to show
only expense categories (e.g. clothing) but with the deposits subtrcated. I
guess that's not possible

For returns with negative expense category entries, on the Spending
by Category report, select Customizeetails-> Type:All Types

Thanks for your answers but if I do that then it will be displayed correctly
in the account register. However when I select the clothing category in the
"spending by category" report only withdrawals are calculated. The deposit
is not included.

That's true if you did not enable an option to require the correct type of
category. That prevents a return categorized as an expense.

It's found on Tools> Settings> Category Settings. I recommend disabling it.

It will ask you when you try to make the deposit if you really want to
do this since the clothing category is an expense category. I say yes,
I do want to that and it is then applied as a credit to the clothing
category.

Default Money 2006: How to track exchanges?

Hi,

let's assume I buy some sweaters, then I add a withdrawal to my bank account
in my clothes-category (expense). One week later I give one of them back in
exchange for my money. How would I track this? It's a deposit, so I cannot
use my clothes category.
Any suggestions are appreciated
