The bank, not Microsoft, determines the password requirements for onlinebanking with Money. For some banks it's the same as that used for their web page; for others, it's not. -- Chris Cowles Gainesville, FL |

| I am experiencing the same issue on money 2004 with 2 banks - HSBC and Schwab - both use the same password as to logon to their site - but money insists it be 4-8 characters, it won't even take it Is microsoft telling us that we can't have a more secure password? If someone from Microsoft reads this - this is clearly a bug and it must be solved, maybe tomake things easier for microsoft we shouls all use 1234 as our password "Haacked" wrote: - quote - > I am trying to Synch Microsoft Money 2004 with BrownCo, but the > password field only allows up to 8 characters. | reference: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/326066/en-us If BrownCo is using a different password for their OFX exports, then it's up to them to determine the what is acceptable (i.e. length, numeric only, etc). Money simply honors those limitations. An 8-character password such as '9Gw53sIo' is more secure than> hardly a solution. But I had considered it just to make things simpler > for myself. ![]() 'brightstar'. ;-) - quote - > I did ask BrownCo and am waiting to hear. However one person has told

| I am trying to Synch Microsoft Money 2004 with BrownCo, but the password field only allows up to 8 characters. According to the FAQ on BrownCo... Do I need a separate password, User ID or PIN to download my data? No. To download your account data, you will use your current BrownCo User ID and password when you access your account from either Quicken or Microsoft Money. So is there a way for me to manually edit the password size that Money will allow for my BrownCo account? How do I tell if this is a Money issue or a BrownCo issue? |
