Go to the other computer. Save a new backup to a USB drive. Then
open Money by double-clicking that *.mbf file on the USB drive. That
should launch Money, and start the restore. Do not accept the
default location to restore to. Instead Browse to your My Documents
folder, and say you want to name the file Docdean. Money will add
the .mny extension automatically. Let the restore work.

If still no joy, describe what happens when you get that "crash".

Ok, thanks for all the suggestions so far...

I've tried reinstalling - did not help
I've tried repair file - did not find any broken links in the file
I've tried update - did not help
I can open the sample.mny file or start a new file but it would make my life
soooo much easier to have access to my prior data.

What other things can I try?

I would reinstall Money 2006.

Can you open Sample.mny in the install folder?

Sadly, just because the file appears to "work fine" in M05 (or previous
Money versions for that matter) has proven to be an unreliable indicator of
whether or not it has some form of "corruption". Sometimes these corruptions
manifest themselves when a future version fails to comprehend the data. Try
looking in File|Repair Money File for the tools involved.

No but the file is not broken. I copied it from one computer with money 2005
and put it on my new computer with money 2006. The file still works fine in
the 2005 version. I don't believe file repair was an option in the menu.
Is there a separate program for file repair?

Default Error converting Money 05 to Money 06

I am trying to convert my Money 05 file to the 06 version however every time
I try to open the file (or restore as backup) it causes the program to crash.

Any recommendations?
