I use it with several. I don't download transactions. It works great this
way.

I have the same problem with Microsoft Money 2005, so it hasn't been
fixed between 2003 and 2005.

Looking inside the file from Vanguard, it doesn't look like they're
even including transactions.

Does anyone use Money with any 401(k) account, Vanguard or not?

Here is the post from Vanugard's FAQ

"Microsoft has chosen to implement 401(k) and similar employer-sponsored
retirement accounts by providing only the account's holdings in the
Microsoft Money account. When you download and import an OFX file for an
employer plan account from Vanguard, Money will update your holdings using
"Add Shares" or "Remove Shares" transactions as appropriate, but the actual
transactions that were performed within your account will not appear in your
Money register.

You may wish to read "View transactions and history information in your
401(k) or 403(b) account" within Microsoft Money's Help area. For more
information on how Microsoft Money provides account information for your
retirement accounts, we recommend that you contact Microsoft directly and
specifically reference this Help file."

I have same issue with Vanguard and Money 2003. I never understood if this
was Vanguard issue or Money. The last correspondence from Vanguard indicated
that it was Money issue with the way they implemented OFX standard.

I would be interested to hear from others if this was fixed in Money 2006.

Let me add this: if you just want to be able to unravel how much was their
contribution, that can be done from reports if you setup the money flow
correctly and categorize transactions accordingly. Mine are Wages &
Salary:Employer 401k Match.

I'm not entirely sure I understand your question but if you are asking if
M06 can keep track, simply, of what part of an investment in Investment X is
from your contribution vs what part is from employer contributions, then the
answer is no. You can probably coerce it with separate accounts or some
such.

But it is not correct to say that Money does not allow tracking all
transactions in a 401k. If you just want to create transactions for all of
this, there is nothing that prevents you from doing so. You may not be able
to download data that reflects this view, though.

Default 401K accounts

Last time I checked, Money didn't allow tracking of all transactions in 401k
accounts. Specifically, it wouldn't distinguish mutual fund buy transactions
made with my contributions versus those made with employer matches, even
though this information is available in the transaction files downloaded from
Vanguard. Has this oversight been rectified in Money 2006? I'm still using
Money 2003.
