| Cal, Thanks for the info. It worked. Never thought of that. Figured once I disabled it, I was a gonner. Restored the backup and I'm back in business. Wish Microsoft would have had this bit of info. They were actually useless. Tech support said they had lots of calls regarding this problem, but would not be addressed till the 2007 update, if then. Thanks for your help. This newsgroup is full of information from people like yourself. You do a great service. Thanks again..... Mike |

| It depends upon what you mean by "disable". If you simply disable online services for MSN Bill Pay within Money, then it will still be available if you re-enable "Access Money on the Web" within Money when using the same Passport that had that MSN Bill Pay subscription. If you either deleted that Passport, are using a different Passport, or called CheckFree to "cancel" the MSN Bill Pay service, then yes, you could lose access. There's a reference about this on http://moneycentral.msn.com/common/networkstatus.asp -Mark "Mike" <mike_in_93012[at]yahoo.com> wrote in message news:43de926c$0$7544$9a6e19ea[at]unlimited.newshosting.com... - quote - > Don't disable bill pay. | Don't disable bill pay. You will not get it back. Of course I held off, until today. Thought I would give it a try. What a mistake. You loose the ability to use bill pay in Money. You must go to the msn bill pay site, enter your payments and they may, I repeat may, be imported into money. No guarantee they will be imported. That is the word from tech support. No fix till 2007 edition. I asked why they didn't send out an email to all registered user of money or put it in a billpay enote. No answer..... I have used it for years. Now I am out of luck. May just switch to anouther bill pay that I know will import automatically. Mike |

| jim, Recent versions of Money incorporate the ability to use a third-party service to download balance and transaction data into Money for those banks and other financial institutions (FI's) that don't support direct connection with Money for that purpose. By "direct connection" I mean one doesn't have to logon to the FI's site to import balance and transaction data. In order to use the third-party service, Microsoft requires the user to setup their Money file so that the Money account data is accessible through the MSN website. This requires a .NET Passport and is why you are being asked to disable online services with the billpay service, which, when Money 2006 was released, also required a .NET Passport. Recently, there were changes to the MSN Billpay service and the way existing Money users access the billpay service. These changes presently prevent any new users from setting up direct billpay access through Money. Therefore, I am not certain what you might encounter if you were to proceed in your attempt to setup ING and PayPal. I would certainly be apprehensive about proceeding for fear of not getting the billpay function back! You may want to stick with the manual download capability that both ING and PayPal provide. Good Luck! Regards, JB jim wrote: - quote - > Why in the world is Money 2006 (and Money 2004 prior) insisting that I > disable MSN Billpay during my attemp to add paypal and ING transaction > downloads? Here's the exact message I receive... this is during the process to> disable MSN Billpay during my attemp to add paypal and ING transaction > downloads? They have NOTHING to do with my MSN Billpay account? > I don't use online access to my accounts, don't want it, never did... > but it keeps telling me how wonderful this access will be when all I > want to do is download transactions in these two accounts... > Thanks for any explanations and/or workarounds! provide sign in info for either ING or PayPal, not to setup online account access. Doh. To set up Money so you can see your data from any computer, you must first disable MSN Bill Pay in Money. Go to the account list, and then click Manage online services in the left pane. Click MSN Bill Pay, click Stop using MSN Bill Pay in Money, and then follow the instructions on the screen. After you disable MSN Bill Pay, return here to activate the service that allows you to see your data from any computer. Your MSN Bill Pay service will be reactivated in Money once you complete this process. |

| Why in the world is Money 2006 (and Money 2004 prior) insisting that I disable MSN Billpay during my attemp to add paypal and ING transaction downloads? They have NOTHING to do with my MSN Billpay account? I don't use online access to my accounts, don't want it, never did... but it keeps telling me how wonderful this access will be when all I want to do is download transactions in these two accounts... Thanks for any explanations and/or workarounds! |
