| What you are missing is that the only thing that can generate a .M10 file is a version newer than Mv10 or M02. Ergo, for this file to exist, at one time or another you had to have opened a Money 2002 file with one of Money 2003, Money 2004, Money 2005, or Money 2006. Copy the .M10 file back to the old machine. Rename it from *.M10 to *.MNY. Money 2002 will now open the file. It will be whatever your data was when you upgraded it to M> 02. If you want to continue to use the upgraded .MNY file, you will have to get the version that wrote it or higher. Sounds like this means M03 or higher. Make an extra backup or so on a USB drive too.> install on the new computer - and put the old computer away in storage. i > just brought it out of storage and am trying to get the money 2002 > file/back-up to work in the same version of money 2002 > i do still have the new computer - for 12 more hours. I suggest that after you back up your personal data to multiple media, you delete your private files. Wipe out the "Recycle Bin". Then find an application that will wipe the unused areas of your hard drive. - quote - > i can do whatever is
Yes.> needed. new computer (about to give back) - crapola - you're right. i just > checked and the newer computer has money 2003 (version 11/2003 versus version > 10 2002). > does this mean i have to get money 2003 or greater on the old computer? - quote - > will it still ask for a password?
Not if the original file did not have a password, which I think youhave implied. One more thought: it might be a good time to consider a new computer for yourself. It might even come pre-loaded with Money 2006 Standard. |

So if your newer machine is still available, open that current Money file, Then Help-> About will give the version. The computer you move that file to will have to have Money that is at least as new. |

Copy that file to *.mny on the old computer, and you will be able to open it with Money 2002. It will have the transactions that you had at the time of conversion, but not from before. |
