| Dick, That worked beautifully. Thank you for the "Inspector Sleuth" technique. I found the .02 unassigned in a split category transaction. | I just tested this using a split transaction with a large unassigned amount. ($10,000 deposit transaction split with only $1 Wages:Commission defined in the splits--that's $9999 unassigned income.) In the Income and Spending Report, I do see an unassigned income entry that matched my unassigned portion of the split. Double clicking on it gets a message "You have no transactions for the item selected." I conclude this is a probable cause for what the OP is reporting. How to find it? I'd take the report and customize it to narrow things down. Select maybe just the account you have with the most splits. Or maybe just the accounts with the most transactions. If it's not there, try other(s) until you see the unassigned amount in the report. Then try narrowing down the date range. Pick the first two weeks of the month. If there, pick the first week. If there, pick the first four days. If not there, pick the last three days. If there, pick the last two days. Etc. Once you get it narrowed down to a small set of transactions, check each for unassigned amount in a split.; "Dick Watson" <littlegreengecko[at]mind-enufalready-spring.com> wrote in message news:e$PedexFGHA.1260[at]TK2MSFTNGP15.phx.gbl... - quote - > You raise an interesting question. | You raise an interesting question. I'm not sure if unassigned split amounts show up anywhere like this, but it might be worth a test case. | The report that shows this--have you customized it to show all available columns? Do you know what account? Date? Or is it the Monthly Report? Can you see it in other reports, say transactions by category? Beyond that, I'd be considering the repair options. See http://umpmfaq.info/faqdb.php?q=104. | Dick, Thank you for your response. I tried your solution, but did not find any transactions for .02 during the month of December. What should I try next? The report is still reporting that there is 1 transaction that has .02 in an unassigned category, but when you click the Assign Category link, I get the message that there are no transactions found. I will look forward to your response. Tom "Dick Watson" wrote: - quote - > Maybe. Let's find out. | Maybe. Let's find out. Try going into Tools|Find and Replace and doing an advanced search for amount = $0.02. | I know this will seem small, but it causes me to be concerned. I have a current month spending report that has a message at the top of the report that says: You have 1 transaction, for $0.02, that doesn't have an assigned category. Assign a category. When I click on Assign a Category, there are no details in the report that it generates. I have narrowed it down to have occurred in December 2005, but I don't know how to find this entry. Can you please help me? Thanks. Tom |
