| That sounds very reasonable. Lots of copies. In several different places. I let Money back up automatically to hard drive on exit, no compression, save 30 (disk is cheap), ask first. Every 14 days it backs up to a removable drive (USB), compress, save 3, ask first. From time to time I put a copy on the same USB drive. Also, occasionally, I restore to a temp file just to make sure it works. -- Chris Cowles Gainesville, FL |

| I have so many backups, I have trouble keeping track of them. Both on and off site, in thumb Drives, in laptops, on CD, etc. All documents are backed up automatically 2x per week to different external hard drives (in case of hard drive failure), but I try to carry one copy with me so if the home is destroyed in an earthquate or fire, not everything is in the home. In reality, the brokerage sites and the bank sites serve as backups as well, but the information is better organized in Money, all in one place. What do you do for backups? As the experts. I take your point about the copy verses backup. It is clear that a money backup restores the file. A copy is the file. The computer backup programs make copies both of the mny and mbf files, but calls them backups. It all gets very confusing. I simply copy the mny file to the laptop or to a disk and then, when necessary--which is hardly ever--copy it back. | Yes, that is the ifo I was looking for. Thanks. I was worried that archiving might alter soe of the ong term info about the portfolio. It is like the Quick file repair, but works across all versions. You> Exactly what does that do. did not state what version of Money you had. - quote - > You responded so quickly, but even at that, I

| I had done the dlection of the temp internet files, but not the msmoney -s. Exactly what does that do. You responded so quickly, but even at that, I had already enetered some transactions by hand becasue some of the messages were to the effect that after downloading and deleting the unread statements, these same statements would not again be dowloaded. Now I am up to date, so I may have to wait for some more transactions to post to see if your fix worked. I will let you know. In my meanderings I did get it to do transaction up to the 16th of Dec, and one from yesterday. I could not get the ones in between, so I enetered them manually (what a pain). Then open Money with Start-> Run and entering "msmoney -s" without the quotes into the box. |

| Since the first of the year, I have been able to download the statements and note that there are 48 transactions to be read, but I cannot see or accept any of those transactions in the register. They simply are not shown. Is anyone else having this issue. I can delete the statement, but on redownloading, I still cannot do anything but note that there is a statement to read. I cannot in fact read it. |
