| These situations always give me such a warm fuzzy feeling about Money's integrity. Glad you got your problem resolved. After confirming that net worth over time failed, I isolated a transfertransaction from one investment account to another. Deleting and recreating resolved the net worth problem and also the monthly reports problem. Thanks to all for suggestions. -- Chris Cowles Gainesville, FL |

Well, that didn't work either. I opened every one directly from the reportspage and they worked, then I revised each to show all dates/all accounts/all investments, where applicable. Still no failure. What is failing consistently is net worth over time. Can't get it to display anything, but it doesn't crash. Just sits there with a 'loading' message. I think this report (or a least a sample) is included in monthly report. Can you confirm? I customized that report down to including almost nothing, then added accounts back one at a time using the 'apply' button. I isolated it down to two investment accounts. I think there's actually a transfer between the two, but I haven't investigated that far. Thanks for the suggestions on where to look. I'll work on it. |

Closing Money during the switch may not have been needed. If that does not let you get any monthly report to work, you know the generic stuff: does it happen in Sample.mny or a new file? If so, reinstall. Also, try a File-> Repair. Does it happen when you restore a backup to a new filename, so as to not overwrite your current file? If you have multiple backups, that could let you figure out when the problem appeared, and let you suspect transactions entered between backups. |

| You may find that one or another of the investment reports also crashes. Then you can play with the date range--customize it from the report menu r-click so it won't crash before you can customize. This would be easier to do binary searches anyway because you can also do things like eliminate accounts completely and so forth in the report customizations rather than the more brute force means necessary for the monthly report. For the Monthly Report crashes, by binary search, I really meant narrow things down in great swaths. Probably the best way--the way I went at it, as I recall--is to delete entire investment accounts between attempts to see if it crashes. Again, for the record, do this in a copy until you narrow the issue down to a specific account/time period and, hopefully, a specific transaction. Unfortunately it doesn't do me any good. I was going to do what it described without knowing I was doing a binary search. On a hunch, though, I started with the oldest exposed report, 2/2005. That failed. Since I can't get the report to even start, I can't change the date back to an earlier period where I presume an error exists. There's no apparent way to fix it. -- Chris Cowles Gainesville, FL |

| Whenever I try to run a monthly report, Money suffers a hard crash at the point when it's "Calculating the value of my assets and liabilities". A box appears on the page that says "To view the reports your accounts must contain transactions." and it suggests I connect to my bank to download some. Then the Microsoft Money Error Reporting box pops up and says "We're sorry, but Microsoft Money has experience an internal error and will have to restart.". After clicking "tell" or "don't tell", Money closes and reopens. Has anyone else experience a similar problem? I've tried quick and standard repair, to no avail. I've run this report in the past with no problems, but not since I rebuilt the file. If anyone has any clues, I'm open to suggestions. |
