I don't understand. If you want to track it, why not include it in the
budget? That kinda illogical.

FWIW, I did find that the "Compare acutal spending to your budge" page has a
line at the bottom called "Other Expense" that includes all of the
unbudgeted expenses. Double clicking on the line shows you the individual
transactions.

So, MS$ does know the info.... It would be helpful to show it in the
Summary!

Many thanks.

I think you are missing that it may not be not designed to monitor
performance against categories you explicitly did not ask it to monitor
performance against. Perhaps the default view is that if you'd cared about
spending on these categories you would have set up a budget for them. There
may be a setting in Customize to get it to report the unbudgeted categories
but I'm not in a position to check at the moment.

Default Unbudgeted exp doesn't show up...

Money 2005

My home page shows my Budget Summary. Today, it dutifully tells me that for
expenses, I've Budgeted $X in Expenses, and had Actual Expenses of $Y.

But "Y" includes only the amount I've actually spent on items in the budget.
I've also spent a few shekels on items OUTSIDE the budget. Shouldn't the
Budget Summary warn me about that?

What good is knowing that I've spent "only" $Y, if I wouldn't know that I've
spent ALL of my money on unbudgeted items? It seems as if there's a line
missing -- one that says "Hey, you've spent $Z on unbudgeted items!"

Am I missing something?

Thanks.
