A fund to fund exchange may well have tax implications. For the
common conversion from class B shares to class A shares of the same
fund, that is normally a tax-free change. An "exchange" from
Fidelity Magellan to Fidelity Contrafund would be a taxable event.

===Handling a Mutual Fund Reorg or conversion from B to A shares.===

If your mutual fund is involved in a tax-free reorganization, your
"B" shares are being converted to [fewer generally] "A" shares, or
a there is a tax-free merger where you don't originally hold both
funds:

1. Do an appropriate split of the fund. You will need to input
the split ratio a ratio of integers (1 ... 65535). Post the ratio
you want to achieve.

2. In the investment details, change the symbol.

3. Change the investment name.

4. Add a brief comment to the investment to explain the change.

This does not handle the case where only part of your shares are
converting. (You got sold again, did you? Think no-load next
time.)

If you do this, money will record a Capital Gain. I may be wrong, but I
think Elizabeth would like to know how this can be recorded as a simple fund
to fund exchange without tax implications, such as would happen in a 401(k).

Sell one, buy another.

Default Mutual fund exchange of shares

I have a number of investments in one account. Within that account, I want
to show an exchange of shares from one mutual fund to another, i.e., Value
Line A to Value Line B. Does Money 2005 provide a mechanism for recording
this exchange? I do not see a transaction for "exchange" in the activity
drop down box. How do I handle this?

Thanks to anyone who can help.
