| Thanks for answering almost all my questions and thinking of stuff like Passport which I hadn't even thought of. If anyone can answer this question, it will be greatly appreciated. "And what are the differences between '02 Deluxe and '06?" I neglected to state in my first email that I'm using Win XP and I'm in the US. Thanks. | In microsoft.public.money, "angela g" <angela g[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote: - quote - > Namely, what if I try out '06, don't like it, and want to go > back to '02? You can have both 2002 and 2006 on your computer at the same time, installed into different folders. You can have them open, one at a time. The only caveats I can think of are the last-installed is set up with the file associations, so when you download an OFX or QIF, the last installed gets fed the file. To feed the file to both, save the file to disk, and do File-> Import to both. Just clicking a link sends the file to the last-installed. You could manually adjust the associations, or could reinstall 2002 to reset the associations. Another alternative would be to make an XP install point before the install, and restore later if you like. That would restore the associations. Copy your Money 2002 file to another filename such as Mon06.mny. If there is a Passport on the file, open the copy with Money 2002 and remove the passport before converting. It may not be good to use the same Passport on both. There may be no problems with that. I am just not sure. You can add a DIFFERENT Passport to that file if you like, but I would not have the same Passport on both files. |

| I'm using Money 02, generally satisfied with it though there are some annoying things in the user interface (such as only showing 10 lines of stocks or securities at a time in an unnecessarily small window when I have a nice big monitor that could show a whole lot more, which would be handy when I'm comparing what Money says with what my broker's web site says. And the way I can't sort the order by security name or symbol or date purchased in those little windows. Othr places, yes, but not when you're asked to reconcile. ) I have questions similar to those of http://support.microsoft.com/newsgro...-us;newsgroups posted by KIWI. Namely, what if I try out '06, don't like it, and want to go back to '02? Is the safe route to install on a different machine? And what are the differences between '02 Deluxe and '06. (BTW, The Download web site for Money Has no information of this nature Says nothing about how much the product costs or what the upgrade cost is for current users doesn't even have a contact link. Not terribly user friendly.) Thanks in advance. |
