Update from the internet, and make sure that the version shows 14.8.*.1105. 2. During the restore, instead of taking the default location, I would browse into the My Documents folder and select a new name for the file. - quote - > "Cal Learner-- MVP" wrote: > > In microsoft.public.money, Russ Salerno <Russ > > Salerno[at]discussions.microsoft.com> wrote: > > > > I can't seem to find a place to download the trial version of M2005. | Oh, and you'll need to find a way to download the M05 trial again, since you didn't retain a copy of the original download. I believe this is possible still, but you may have to search the newsgroup (advanced search newsgroup microsoft.public.money at http://groups.google.com) and/or Microsoft web site to find out how/where to do it. This time you should burn the download onto a CD. | You need to do two things. See http://umpmfaq.info/faqdb.php?q=177 for how to get the M05 update that will read your file. Then open the sample data file and put your Passport--the one you used to buy the online license--on the file. Then do another Internet Update. Hopefully that will train Money that you have a full license. | Money is not backwards compatible, so M2004 cannot read a M2005 file or backup. The password message is Money's damn fool way of telling you that! Note that the M2006 trial is US only so if your M2005 was not US that is why it won't read it. But we need to know what errors you are getting from M2006. -- Regards Bob Peel, Microsoft MVP - Money For UK tips & fixes see http://support.microsoft.com/default...d=fh;EN-GB;mny. | I downloaded an upgrade from Money 2004 to 2005 a while back (I'll never do that again). I recently had to wipe my hard drive clean and start over by reinstalling Windows XP Professional. The only version of Money that I had on CD to reinstall was Money 2004. I thought I could just install the old 2004 version and restore from the back up file that I created from Money 2005. It told me that the password for that file was incorrect. I know my password! I have never changed it. I tried downloading the trial version of Money 2006 and it didn't even recognized my Money file. Do I need to purchase Money 2005 again (on CD this time so I have it) or can I do something to get 2004 or 2006 to recognize my file. I have over 8 years of information on this file and am sweating some major bullets here! Help!!! |
