Default Re: Money 2006 Deluxe

Thanks for your help! I intend to refer to your comments and create a new
file for M2006 after renaming the old M2004 file. As I formerly understood,
the old program will uninstall but leave the old file intact (which I can
rename).

Let's be clear: there are two issues. 1) What to do with the app install.
I'd just install over the top and let Money do it's thing removing the old
version. The only issue is beware of the print checks alignment settings
form M04, if you use these. I'm not sure they migrate--in prior versions
they did not. 2) What to do with the data file after installing the new app.
I'd probably make a copy of any data file to be upgraded to a new name
before doing the install. When you complete the install (and start Money) it
will go to the last used file from M04 and proceed to upgrade--providing
dialog boxes telling you all about what it is doing. Why would I make the
copy when Money does essentially the same thing? Paranoia, that's all. Now,
in your case, you explicitly do NOT want to upgrade the old file. Just
rename it to something that's not the last used from M04. M06 won't find the
file it's looking to upgrade and will offer to create a new file. Done.

Would you advise doing the "upgrade" to M2006 Deluxe or let the CD uninstall
M2004 Std. and not "upgrade" but resume the installation of the newer
version M2006 Deluxe?
Also, should I just move the older version .mny file to another location?

IF you do an upgrade of the file, THEN the original M04 file will be left
behind but renamed *.m12. IF you do not do an upgrade of the file, THEN a
legacy M04 file will be left alone, still named *.MNY.

Will the Money 2004 file left intact be named differently than a newly
created file for Money 2006? I want to start a new money file without data
from the M2004 file.

Yes, it will prompt you to uninstall the previous version. It won't erase
the money file, just the program itself.

Default Money 2006 Deluxe

During the installation of Money 2006 Deluxe, can it automatically uninstall
the currently installed Money 2004 Std program if I choose to do so?
