| I am having some trouble getting ING Direct to work properly in Money 2006. When I first opened my ING account a few weeks ago I was able to add the account in Money without any problems. My account balance would update automatically along with the rest of my bank accounts. I did notice that my transactions weren't updating automatically so I deleted the account and tried to add it back. Now I can't get ING to add back into my account list. I keep getting an error saying that Money can't connect to the ING information. I have found out that I have to download my ING transactions manually, but I don't understand why I can't link the account when I was able to just a few days ago. Any helpful information on this issue? Thanks in advance. "cjsherlock" wrote: - quote - > I cannot download information through Money 2006 from ING Direct. Microsoft Money connects directly to servers under the control of your bank.An alternative method is a third-party system that logs into your bank's web site on your behalf, runs some queries to get some data, then returns it to Money. Microsoft has a relationship with Yodlee and CashEdge to do that. If any of your banks offer the means on their web site to 'consolidate your accounts from other banks', they're doing the same thing, through the same providers. They're not doing it for your benefit, they're doing it for theirs. They can get all kinds of credit information on you without your consent. What they can't get, without your consent, is asset information. When you give them the keys to your other bank accounts, you give them consent. -- Chris Cowles Gainesville, FL |

| FrankV wrote: - quote - > And what is "direct connect"?
"Direct Connect" is a term generally associated with the ability toaccess and download, without going through a third-party service, the balance and activity of an account at a financial institution (FI) to a corresponding account created within Microsoft Money. The Money software incorporates the protocols required to permit the direct connections for those FI's that support the Microsoft Money application. The ability to access the FI's bill payment service, if offered, may also be included in "direct connect". As for your specific question regarding ING Direct: ING previously offered direct connect but currently they don't. Presently, the appearance that an account at ING is updated "directly" in Money is only possible through a third party service. To use this third party service one needs to configure their Money file for Microsoft Passport login and agree to upload their Money file data to a Microsoft service accessible (if one wishes) through an MSN site. Alternately, one could login to ING's site to download current balance and new activity to a corresponding Money account. Hope this helps! Regards, JB |

| If you go to Yodlee on-center site you will see that Yodlee collects 4 pieces of information. That is all that Yodlee pulls information from. I have tried it from the yodlee site and can gain access to my ING account. I have never set it up from within Money 2006 so I can not comment on the Money side of things. However the information collected should all have made it to the Yodlee database. Also, the question that gets presented changes with each session. So it seems to me that only manually process going through the web will work.
