Did you do an Internet Update of the reinstalled M05? See
http://umpmfaq.info/faqdb.php?q=177.

I did uninstall and reinstall Money 2005. And, although I did no open
samply.mny, I created a new mny file and it opens, closes, save, etc. without
a problem. However, when I go to use my 1 day old Money file with years of
transactions, even with the newly reinstalled Money 2005, I can see the
legacy register for about 4 seconds, then it crashes with a message about
mysiam05.dll. Again, the trial version of 2006 works file on this very same
file: it opens the legacy file, closes it, saves it (obviously, with a
different name so as not to confuse things). But, when I go back to M2005,
the file crashes.

You could try doing a reinstall on Money 2005, and then opening the
sample.mny file that is part of that install. If that is successful,
let Money update if necessary to get version 14.0.*.1105, and then
move on to the *.m14 file that the Money 2006 created to backup your
Money 2005 file before conversion.

You may not have compression turned on for the Money 2006 backups if
you are referring to backups. The .mny files are usually larger than
the .mbf files, as long as compression of the backup files is
enabled.

Can you use the sample.mny file? Navigate to it with Windows Explorer or My
Computer and double click on the file name.

I do not respond to any emails that I have not specifically asked for.

Default Money 2005 Crash and Unusable Myisam05.dll

My Money Deluxe 2005 cannot open my file, nor can it open any of the 3
backups. The crash references "Myisam05.dll." I read the KB and the one
post I found here, but I do not use investment toolbox. I cannot get to MS
support, because I cannot even open Money for more than a few seconds before
it crashes. I did try the Money 2006 Trial and it was able to open the file
without an issue. However, I cannot figure out why 2005 no longer works.
One other observationis that the current files have balooned in size, whereas
the old, outdated backups and new 2006 backup are similar in size.
