| Dick I started all over again with a fresh install from XP on up. I installed money 2005. I then navigated to the money folder and opened the Sample file. The update process launched and ran. I restarted Money, which then insists on updating the file it had been working on -- in this case the sample file. Once it was done, I opened the file I hadn't been able to open from within Money through the open menu. . .easy as pie. By the way, tech support via chat for Microsoft Money attempted to help, but didn't know this was a recurring issue and therefore tried to tell me the file was corrupt (It wasn't). I will point them to this solution so they can help the rest of the users who hit this particular wall . . . Thanks again! Krista -- Krista "Dick Watson" wrote: - quote - > Sounds about right to me. Then you should be able to open or restore your existing file. |

That .m14 file would have been produced by Money 2006 converting> When I try to open my money file (.mny), I get prompted for my email address > and password, which I provide. FWIW, I have a .M14 file on my computer. your Money 2005 file. I assume you downloaded and installed the Money 2006 trial at some point. You could open that file in Money 2005, but it would not have any changed you did since the conversion. - quote - > Suggestions? Would

| My laptop recently died and I have since installed Money on a new laptop. When I try to open my money file (.mny), I get prompted for my email address and password, which I provide. However, it doesn't recognize the password and refuses to let me in. I am fairly certain I am providing the proper password because I wrote it down. Moreover, I haver since taken steps to do assorted fixes to address the issue -- I allowed 2005 to upgrade itself. I opened a test file and turned off requiring a password, etc. Still I get prompted when I attempt to open the file. When I attempt a repair, it chokes as well and it checking the log, it seems there's nothin wrong with the file aside from the password issue. FWIW, I have a .M14 file on my computer. Suggestions? Would upgrading to 2006 resolve the issue (fingers crossed!) -- Krista |
