If by 'close each year out' you mean archive, don't bother. If by that you mean entering closing transactions for past calendar or fiscal years, that's a choice you make. Consider entering a single transaction in the desired categories, to summarize activity for each year, rather than all the details. If you mean doing that going forward, it shouldn't be hard if you group them together in a category called 'Pledges' with subcategories for each group you pledged to. Alternatively, put them all in a category called 'Contributions' with subcategories of 'Charitable - cash', 'Charitable - In-kind' and 'Non-deductible'. If using the latter organization, segregation by pledge may be manageable through the use of classifications. Search Money help on that, and Dick Watson may have a FAQ that addresses it.
