Default Re: Credit card spending chart

Don't use the "credit card payment/transfer" expense category if you want to
categorize the individual items you paid for with the credit card. That
causes the behavior you describe.

Instead, use either the "credit card payment" or "transfer" category under
"Special" categories. Those two do the same thing. The one you're using is
an "Expense" category. That's why you end up with duplicate expenses.

If you would rather track the credit card payment as an expense, keep using
the one you have been, keeping in mind that you can't also categorize the
individual purchases.

It depends on which one is more useful to you which one you choose to stick
with.

HTH,

Susan

It is marked as "other Expense" in the category group. There is no place
marked for budget account if I am looking at the right page. The subcategory
is "Credit Card Payments/Transfers" but this is a payment list. One of the
problems is that this listing is from the bank list. I have to have a
category for what the payment was for from my bank but I dont want it to be
factored into the final budget because that would be paying twice as I state
earlier. There is one place that has a thing for "budgeting or trending"
(which I dont understand the 2 choices of necessary or discretionary). Maybe
I am not looking at the right page for it but then you will need to tell me
how to get to that page.

Thanks,

Are you paying your credit card as a "Transfer to: CreditCardAccountName" or
"Credit Card Payment: CreditCardAccountName"? Or is the category you're
selecting to pay your credit card in your category list? If the former, make
sure the account in question is checked as a budget account, on that
account's details page. If the latter, change to using the former method.
That assumes you have a separate credit card account, to which individual
charge transactions are posted.

Default Credit card spending chart

Is there a way that the spending chart can be altered so that it does not
include certain categories in the chart but still have them available to look
at? In other words, the spending chart shows my credit card payment but
since I can go back into the credit card bill (by downloading it) and put in
all the categories, it is more or less showing that I paid for an item twice.
Once in the credit card bill that has been divided and then saying the
credit card bill itself is another payment. I still want to know the credit
card bill but I do not want it factored into spending because it is being
subdivided anyway. Hope that makes sense.

Thanks
